My German Shepherd may have mated with my neighbors dog accidentally. The neighbor dog broke into my back yard. I thought I got to him in time but I'm starting to think I didn't. If she mated she should be 33 days right now and 34 days on memorial day which is tomorrow.

A week after the incident she stopped eating, a few days later her appetite started coming back slowly. A ccouple weeks after her nipples started getting bigger and she started becoming clingy and even more affectionate and now it looks as though she may be starting to show. Her abdomen is a lil hard and it looks like her sides r bigger too. Do u think she could be pregnant and if so how many puppies on average do German Shepherds usually have on their first litter?

Congratulations  You will have puppies in 30 - 33 days.  Depending on the sire and age of female 6+ new family members.

Thank u for the reply. I thought she was but wasn't 100% sure since she's a big breed and smaller breeds aee so much easier to tell.

Looks like you'll be hearing the pitter patter of little feet! What kind of dog is the daddy?

There is a remote possibility she is experiencing a phantom/false pregnancy, but the only way to know for certain is to take her to the vet. My girl just went through this after her recent heat. She was not pregnant, but had all the symptoms. I doubt this is the case with your girl, but for your sake and the sake of your dog I hope it is. I'm sure the breeders here can tell you the optimum time to determine if there are puppies in there.

I'm sure you have figured out now that you never leave a female in heat outside and unattended. Good luck!
