I want to do a reserch, the chance(%) between have GDV bloat feed the kibble dry dog food and home made cooked food.

I have the 3rd now on the surgery table, before one save and one die.I fed  Natural choice adult.

I want to switch to home make food will that be lower the GDV chance? Please advise.

I have had a shepherd who bloated and was being fed dry kibble along with home cooked food. After the second time of bloat I fed cooked brown rice along with carrots, parsley, celery, green beans and chicken. I made kind of a stew soup with the mixture.  I stopped feedking dry kibble or adding it to her soup mixture. She also was getting cottage cheese and yogurt, no bisquits or any type of hard food such as cookies etc. She did bloat again for the third time after feeding only the brown rice chicken soup stew that I was making and ended up having emergency surgery because her stomach had flipped. I think that once your dog experiences bloat the likelyhood of it happening again are good no matter what you feed. The vet did tack her stomach with the third incidence of bloat and i continued to keep her on soft diet as well as splitting her meal in two so that she was being fed twice a day instead of once a day, Not sure if this helps in your research . I would have to say that if I had to do this all over again on the first episode of bloat I would have had the stomack tacking done  but again with her first two episodes they were able to treat the situation with medication ad being conservative with feeding.  I can tell you that it was a year from the first time she bloated to the second time. Then thirty days from the second time she bloated to the third time which required emergency surgery

THE best article on bloat I have ever come across. It shoots down a lot of myths, e.g.,  dogs should drink from elevated bowls, and water should be withheld before and after eating.

And yes, kibble is one of the biggest risk factors. Countries that don't rely as heavily on kibble for food have a lower incidence of bloat!
