Which kennels or breeder of WL's would you go to when looking for older pups for working/sport purposes? Looking to stay around the 6-12 months, may consider up to 2yrs for a GOOD dog.
While I would import, I'd prefer to stay within the States.

I don't have any specific recommendations, but you'll want to look for a breeder that doesn't have many litters per year and that raises/trains their own dogs. That way you'll have a good chance of the pup having a good solid foundation in both training and socialization. Breeders that are so busy raising multiple litters don't have much time for properly raising the pups past 8 weeks.

Sometimes trainers will take in a puppy that is too much for their owners, train them and then sell after they are well started in obedience. Its a good source of extra income.

Start with your local working dog club. Ask a lot of questions about the breeders in your area. You would be supprised how many good dogs we have in the states. Ask about the dogs you like and go from there.

Sorry OP won't let me edit.....
Wanting to add that I'm not new to GSD's or the sport world. The breeders I would go to for a 8-12 week old pup, don't usually have older pups for sale. They are the type that have waiting lists for new litters & tend to keep one here & there for their own program.
I've looked at the kennels/breeders I can think of, but either they don't have anything available or what they have is not what I'm looking for.
Was hoping to get some fresh ideas on where to look next. There are so many scams out there now, I'm rather hesitant to go with an unknown kennel/breeder.

Where are you located and what are you looking for in a GSD? I know I get calls, and I am sure others on here do as well, from people that need to place/sell dogs.

I also know of a trainer that has really good working dogs from time to time - Houston Area.
His training is similar to Dave Kroyer's style, so they are started very nicely. He also socializes and give each pup excellent exposure to all types of out and about situations.

k9gsd78,
I'm willing to consider anywhere in the States.
Looking for the following....
A stable/balanced yet strong temperament, doesn't have to be outgoing or social towards strangers.
Must have good food & hunt drives.
Doesn't have to love other dogs, but must be neutral to them.
A strong mother line is a must, with the rest of the pedigree to back it up.
Hips/elbows either rated/prelim'd or good xrays available to view.
Prefer a solidly built female, but may consider a male if all else fits.
of course correct structure & bite, ears up, testicles down(in a male) are a must.

Bubba
Not sure why you would think the above would be hard to find?
I've found many a pup that fits that criteria over the years. The only difference this time is I'm looking for the above in an older pup or younger dog.
