Can anyone recommend a good quality kennel that will last and hold up to the escape artist?

Thanks

Kennel as in run or crate?

For mine, I have the ultra and I think platinum...I have 4 ultra and one platinum (might be diamond...angle iron and has smaller openings at the bottom). Both work great- actually the ultras are in better shape after 6+ years. I like that the wire is not welded to the frame, but buried in the frame tubing and thus it flexes a lot and not only doesn't break when pulled, but it also doesn't seem to be as damaging on teeth. I have to say I don't use them a whole lot and have way more than I could ever need. I had used them to make decent sized yards with when I had country property and no fence.

For a roof, what I did is take 2x4's and slide them through the top row of mesh openings, side to side, then put a screw in each side so they can't push it out one side or the other. Worked great for my Pit who is a master escape artist. Also makes for some more shade, like a gazebo, and doesn't look horrible. They do make tops for those but they're $400/ea just for a 10x10. I like the wood better.

For crates, I have the old Zinger...

After spending several thousands of dollars on beautiful black-powder coated kennel panels back in 2008...never again.  I've lost 3 door panels to rust and breakage, other panels are also breaking down.

Now only going to make my kennels from strong, heavy duty goat/livestock panels which are much cheaper, I have friends who have had them for 20+ years and they are still as good as the day they bought them.  Very strong, very well made.  My mother and step-father recently purchased livestock panels that I believe are 4x4 inch?  16 ft long by 50 inches tall....$20 per panel, I don't know the wire gauge, but it's clearly larger than my kennel panels.

I'll never purchase commercial made kennels again.

I have some options plus and hate them. I have some kennels from tractor supply that are holding up real nice after a few years of heavy use, I also have some chainlink cusom made with 6guage fronts and 9 guage side/back panels that have held up very well for about 8yrs. Normal 11-12 guage chainlink kennels aren't worth the money.

Tractor supply kennels I have: http://www.tractorsupply.com/en/store/doc-bobreg%3B-professional-kennel-10-ft-l-x-5-ft-w-x-6-ft-h
