I think I will not write the name of the dog.

Should I say it is mircochipped? I think there is pros and cons in saying it is chipped.

Should I clearly state the amount of reward if found?

the best tag I ever saw was; ''I will eat your shoes and poop in your house, [ and then the phone # ] It got the person's dog back to them!

All my dogs are named REWARD, regardless of what i call the dog at home. I also put my phone number my vet's number and MICROCHIPPED on my ID tags.
So far i have never lost a dog but last week i lot my dog's collar. I kept checking the phone ot see if mayybe someone fund it and called me. Turned up at my training club in the bottomless lost and found box a week later. :D
Just name your dog Reward. That way you'll be sure to get them back.

It does not matter what you write, but, on one side of it put, "needs daily meds"...no one wants a dog that is not healthy and needs meds every day.

One one side of the tag we have both our cell numbers and on the other is just our address, no names.  I also have his AKC pet recovery program tag with his microchip number on it.

Most microchip brands have their own tags, with the microchip number on them. If you put that on the collar, no need to say the dog is chipped.

I should probably put Star's number on her collar, as her chip has migrated to the front of her right shoulder!  Confused Smile

Needs daily medication is good.

Thanks

The con against stating that it is chipped is to remove the surprise element at the vet.

My neigbor found out that a dog they had taken in, after many months, was chipped during a vet visit.  They admitted to the vet office that the dog was taken in without thinking too much. Also, the chip may become a family knowledge that is harder to justify in front of all family members.

Would "$500 reward if found" be good to say. What may be some cons in clearly stating the amount of reward?

by Nancy on 22 March 2014 - 02:03

I have a two sided tag (plastic)
It has my name, adress, and phone my husbands phone, search team web address, email address, and "microchipped"

What if you don't have $500 that week? Just say reward, If the dog was just visiting the neighbor the next street over mayby they would take $20? Who knows. I do say chipped because not everyone knows about them and that they should be schanning the dog for one.
I had a LONG discussuin with a nice lagy at my trainign club about a dog she found at the park. She didn't want it to "Go back to it's owners" because she felt they were neglectful of their dog. But the dog was clearly in good condition, healthy and may have accidently wander out of the yard. Often this happens quite by accident. I explained that if it was my dog and someone didn't try to returen my beloved dog to me. And i later had to recover my dog because some felt i was not good owner. I'd sue their pants off to get my dog back.
It made her think of the situation in a slightly different light. The dog's owner was founds the next day. :D
