Not the best quality. Note in the hips how the patellas are on the very outside. This indicates that the legs are not rotated inward properly and doing so would produce a tighter appearance. I don't see anything horrible on any of these, but they're not the easiest to see. Elbows aren't flexed enough. Best of luck.

Hips look fair to good;  re-positioning could make a difference, elbows look OK (I think) also better positioning is in order.  Good luck  Nan

This is a new x-ray of the hips of the dog. Could someone who knows to explain the a3 grading (OFFA: mild dysplasia) that these hips got from SV? Because I cannot see it. Thank you in advance!

Malformation of the femoral heads, thickening of the necks, Morgan lines, malformation of the socket on the right hand side (R) hip socket, less then proper positioning ( Paellas are not in center in bulls eye fashion and axes of all bones are not parallel and are not perpendicular. Look here:

http://www.alpinek9.com/Hips.html

) and , x ray sharpness could be of better quality. I suggest to find vet with digital x ray machine . Then any doubts caused by lower quality of the x ray can be clarified on positive or negative side of such issue. ( Better x ray can make it look better or worse) .

I do not know if these things warrant the A3 rating but those are the "issues" I see with this dog's hips. All in all in my opinion the dog will not have working problem with the hips during his working life if ever. Hips are nicely deep in the socket but that is not all what is evaluated. I would resend it to OFA if you are in USA.

In my opinion if the evaluator is extremely critical he may be able to  justify A3 thus it may be  fair but also  little too harsh but not out off realm of fairness. But if the dog is not German dog then  there may be some bias.  :(

I am sorry for the NZ;  however I agree with you Petros;  I could understand a "fair" but mild dysplasia I just do not see.  I would retake these at 2 years old, send to OFA.  Or send the later x-ray to OFA for 2nd opinion now then wait to certify until 2 years old.  Best of luck  Nan

Is it possible that SV is cracking down on their opinions??  Have they changed lately some rules and regulations??  Just my thought...  Nan
