Going to be doing a breeding like this shortly. Thoughts and opinions on this? What would you expect to see from pups from this line?

It appears this bitch has already been bred four times, so one would think YOU'D know what she typically produces, although apparently you haven't been satisfied with what you got else you wouldn't keep switching lines for each breeding--unless the switches were attempts to create higher-priced pups by upping the ante as to what the stud brought to the table.

Does it even matter what anyone here would expect?  You've already made up your mind to do this breeding, in fact have already advertised that you'll be doing this breeding, and although both dogs have respectable pedigrees behind them, neither one appears to have any working credentials of their own--the male has a UKC championship, but they're not that difficult to come by, and while it does at least verify that the stud meets the breed standard used by the UKC, it says nothing about his work ethic and abilities.  "In training for" is nowhere near the same as "has been certified/titled in" one of the various venues which would have either dog's work assessed by a neutral third party.

What would I expect from a breeding like this?  Well, having read the ad, and figuring she has an average sized litter of 6 pups, I expect you'll have an additional $5,400.00 in your pocket around 8-10 weeks after the litter is whelped, if you find 6 people who will pay your asking price.

So, hexe. I have not owned this bitch for all of her previous breedings. The progeny that is listed in the database have not all been breedings. I have added pedigrees of potential breedings to see the lines past the 5th generation. So, before you add rude comments that are not helpful at all you might want to ask a few questions first before you make yourself look like an ass. I did dislike your comment. As for what this female produces, I do know what she has tended to produce with the one other stud that she has ever been bred with. She hasn't been bred to death and this will be her best pairing by far. However, I don't know what exactly the stud has produced in the past, although I have a pretty good general idea. So please, if you can't add anything helpful then just don't open your mouth and let your fingers overload the keyboard with nonsense.

Hmmm. I'm not sure I'm in love with that combo, to be honest. Without bashing specific dogs, I'm concerned about excessive softness and even problematic fearfulness. I have experience (vicariously, thank the Lord) with a few very close relatives and it wasn't pretty. I bred my bitch to Ron for her first litter and was overall happy, though I have to say that there are a couple minor issues (and they truly are minor) that have never happened with any of her subsequent litters. I had a friend with a dog bred similarly to the dam and they had to build the dog his own home in the backyard where noises and visitors wouldn't freak him out to the point where he'd injure himself. Do I think he was average for the lineage? Of course not, but when breeding, we want to stack the deck as strongly in our favor as possible, and knowing what I know about the POTENTIAL of both sides, I'd proceed with caution, if you're hell-bent on doing this breeding. Personally, if the bitch were mine, I'd breed her to a very very confident dog from a long line of confident dogs with balanced drives and good health. Just my personal feeling.

I have to agree with the OP hexe, that was a kinda rude reply.  If you don't have anything helpful to say, just keep your comments to yourself.

Jenni, I appreciate your helpful reply. I do have to say that both dogs are really confident dogs and have no issues what so ever in new situations, places, or around new people. Given, they are both aloof around strangers but they have never been aggressive toward anything or anyone that didn't warrant aggression. I have liked what I have saw of what the female has produced with much lesser of a male. I do appreciate the words of wisdom. Thank you for your helpful reply.

I think the OP said a breeding "LIKE" this, not a done deal?  Actually Ike is SAR certified and HRD (in training)..as well as CH so he isn't just a pretty face:).  My female tho not out of Ike, was bred by the owner of Ike. You might want to ask her about him since she's had him since he was a puppy.  I believe there are a few people who have IKE puppies and seem to be happy with them..I know nothing of the combination.

grandad always said, "if you don't want your sign read, don't hang it out."  when folks come here on pdb & ask for
opinions on breedings they plan to do, they'd better realize they have at least a 50/50 chance of negative response.
i don't believe the "if you don't have anything nice to say, keep it to yourself" approach can have a good influence
on our breed.  if experienced breeders see something wrong with a breeding, i feel they are morally obligated to
speak up.  then if the o.p. still goes ahead with the breeding, they can't say they weren't warned.

Jakoda, I'm in the process of purchasing Ike from Wanda. She's told me a few things about him and the puppies he's produced so I know a little bit, but I don't think he's ever been bred to a female like mine. I do know that I do really love what I'm seeing from Ike :)
