We have rescued this 6 yr old, intact, trained male, and just got his papers. Not very familiar with showlines, so does anyone have opinions? He is in the DB. Drago von den lahnhohen

In the Show world you would be considered lucky for the pedigree and if the body is as good then you are very lucky.

How does one rescue an intact Showline of such quality? Just curious. Did you mean someone gave him to you?

Drago was given to us by some awesome people who could no longer keep him due to personal family issues. He has the foundation of SchH, nice OB and tracking...but have yet to put him on a sleeve, because we have not had him very long. But we are told that he goes crazy good when he sees that sleeve.
He has awesome structure, look exactly like his father. I'm on my phone, so can't post a pic on here, but will try too soon.
So did we fall into a gold mine??

A 'gold mine'? Hmmm...depends on how you mean that.

Did you just reap a windfall of a high-dollar stud dog who will earn his keep, financially, for the rest of his life with you?    I hope that's not what you meant.

If what you're really asking is if you've been fortunate enough to have someone give a you a very well-bred, well-behaved dog that another person might have instead sold to recoup their 'investment', then yes, it sounds like you have fallen into a 'gold mine'. It sounds like his previous owners put his welfare ahead of their checkbook and were more interested in finding him a new home where he'd be safe and would fit in well and would be with people who were experienced with the breed,  and that is commendable of them to have done so. Congratulations on your newest member of the family!

Hexe,
What I meant by gold mine is a dog who is well bred, well trained, good temperament (with a few exceptions), that can live out the rest of his life in a good loving hm. I have no intention of breeding him, because I know very little about showlines and that is not what he was meant for with me. I, personally, don't prefer SL, but he is a nice trained boy. I wanted a dog that had his training so that I can get back into the sport. Now all I have to do is find a good club in my area. :)

I hope Drago is the one who "fell into a gold mine". He's six years old? Hopefully this home will be for the next six or so.
