Was hoping someone with more experience than I can give me some history on my dogs pedigree.

Did you buy the dog from the breeder? Didn't they tell you about the ped?

Your dog is DDR lines, from an excellent breeder (not a breeder of exlusively DDR lines). I considering buying the dam, actually, but didn't because her littermate was rumored dysplastic in the elbows and by the time I researched it thoroughly, she was sold.  I would trust the breeder.  How is your dog? What do you like and not like? I'm curious. I'm a big fan of Dargo von den Thuringer Kronjuwelen in particular.

The gentleman that sold me the dog had him as a police canine candidate but washed out due to being uneasy on slick floors.  He also said this dog may take a while to train as DDRs take a bit longer to mature. Started training him and he does great with tracking and obedience but the helper at my former schutzhund club pushed him way too hard in defense. I left the club a while back but going to see what I can do with him.  Brought him back to where I originally purchased him per his request and he tested amazingly well, very confident, deep bark, well socialized, prey drive out of the roof, deep nose on track.  Out of all the GSD's I have owned he has turned out to be amazing.   Have a appointment for his hips and elbows to be x-rayed for cert next week.

Police candidates need to be ready to hit the streets a lot earlier than the rest of us need our dogs "ready" by. I had a Dargo son who was twice the dog at 3 he was at 1.5, just for reference. I'm very interested in hearing more about the dog. So, you did not import him through Hans and Regina (Eichendorfschule) then?

Jenni78, this was exactly how I obtained my Ando: http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/german_shepherd_dog/dog.html?id=410477-ando-vom-tsali
He was in training up until I purchased him a few months before 2 years old. He was in training to be a police service dog but had issues with steps. I got him and "made" him deal with it as his cage was in the basement. After a few days he got over it. He also went through the 2 year old phase of "everything out of the ordinary is going to kill me". Once he got over that and several years later, as you can see on his pedigree page, he turned out to be MY Police Dog. LOL.
SB, your dog sounds pretty neat. I like his pedigree. Would love to see better photos of him.

If I am reading the pedigree correctly the dog is 6 years old??  I would train fight drives on a home turf if possible and start from the beginning.  I believe that familiar surrounding and a place the dog owns brings out fight drives faster and stronger than a new or strange field of battle.  The training field where the earlier bad experiences took place may still bring back the dog's uncertainty and anxieties.
