Benny loves to eat dirt, tries to eat cat poop, but merely picks at kibble. My son suggested putting cat poop in his food might make him like it more
I have been reading about the Barf diet and am thinking about trying it. Is 12 weeks too young? He is growing fast but thin.
He does not seem to care for Eukanuba Large Breed Puppy which the vet said was good or Purina Pro Plan which the breeder was feeding him. I have to mix cottage cheese in to get him to eat and he always leaves some. I just want him to have a long healthy happy life.

shepherdpal,

Try this link and do your homework.  I found it very helpful.

I don't do the BARF.  My vet recommends against it.  WIth that said, I believe it is best if you do it right.  When you change, expect some changes to the movements if you know what I mean.  My wife and I don't have time to do it.

Our last two GSD's live to be 14 and 12 on kibble.  We have a 4 year old and 18 month on Royal Canin.  3 cups male, 1 1/2 female.  Had to slow down male due to Pano symtoms.

http://www.dogfoodanalysis.com/dog-food-index-a.html - I hate that site...

There is no such thing as best diet or balanced diet, they are accomplish over time. Use quality kibbles (which dose not mean Orijen, you can find less expensive that will work as well) use some raw on occasions, use plain yougurt, raw eggs, just mix it up a bit every now and than. Eating poop is a habbit it's up to you to brake it.

some people will say only feed raw, some prefer cheap kibble, some prefer grain free and or premium kibbles........

the best diet is the one that works for you

I feed TOWT and have good results so far....we'll see if it lass........

Little cat turt treats are an issue......its really hard from some dogs to pass them up.
