Hundmutter I don't object to controlled outside attraction, people running around the ring screaming their dogs name or blowing whistles full blast in my ear I can do without,  it's that behaviour that gives the breed a bad image with other exhibitors and leads to complaints.

David, Thank You,  at least with Steve Dean in place some changes do seem to
be happening, however slowly, that I think would maybe not ever have done with
his predecessors.  Fingers crossed.

Spectator :  I feel mostly the same way as you do;  but more than just our breed use
various forms of attraction (not to mention the baiting going on IN the showring),
and everybody seems to ignore whistles and keys and name-calls from the people
'standing' around the rings of OTHER breeds.  Unfortunately for many years some Stewards
seem to have had some unwritten code that says it is fine to pick on the GSD exhibitors,
even when they are doing NO MORE THAN is going on in the next Ring with Staffies
or whatever.  I too dislike being shoved over when spectating by owners racing blindly around
outside the ring, and I particularly dislike seeing those people carrying water containers,
or blowing hunting horns and duck callers, etc.  But I positively LIKE some 'atmosphere'
and encouragement, don't mind folks using me to 'hide' behind, etc etc.  We would, I
suspect, have had a bit more 'clout' in dealing with the excesses ourselves, if the issue of
Attraction had never been soured by the sort of stewards who take joy in accusing people
of double handling when they are simply eating an ice cream !  For my money, that has
just resulted in many exhibitors becoming 'bloody minded' about the issue.

Stewards and exhibitors of other breeds have developed a typical human attitude towards GSD, that is to pick on the GSD in order to distract from what they are doing with their own breed. DISTRACTION is used by so many human beings in many situations. Such behaviour eventually runs down on steam and becomes "old hat", which it most definitely is these days, and boring!
