The BRG are happy to announce the Top 10 Lists for 2012 based on the points system in operation during the year. It has come to our attention that there is a potential for our overriding objective that all dogs shown and achieving top honours at Regional Events should have good health test results could be compromised with the rules as they stood in 2011 and 2012 and so we are also happy to announce a new Annual Points Awards Scheme which not only harmonises the points to be in line with those awarded in the British Champion Title but also ensures that any animal appearing in the Final Top 10 will have satisfactory health tests* This new scheme will be operational for 2013 events and beyond.
Top Ten Males
Top Ten Females
Top Ten Long Coat Males
**Following Elbow Score clarification Points re-adjusted
from Midland Region, GSD League and Christmas Cracker Events. Top 10
Award Points moved to SG2, SG3 and SG4 placed exhibits where
applicable.
Top Ten Long Coat Females
Certificates are being prepared and will be distributed as soon as possible.
All exhibits who will be 12 months or over by the 31st December 2013 will be able to be included in the Annual Points Award Scheme which will recognise the Top 10 consistently highly placed dogs.
Points will be awarded on the following basis:
VV1 (VP1) = 1 point.
SG1 = 2 points
SG2 = 1 point
V1 adult = 4 points
V2 adult = 2 points
V1 working = 5 points
V2 working = 4 points
VA1 = 7 points
All Other VA = 6 points
The grading is as important as the placing and an animal which is first or second in a class but does not receive the top grade possible for its age will not receive any points.
For final points and placings to be confirmed the health test results of each exhibit must satisfy the requirements of a UK breed survey or Koerung.
Owners have up to 20th February 2014 to submit health test results to the awards administrator, Carol Eastwood, for verification. In the event of an appeal of a health test result which has not been confirmed by 20th February 2014, the original score will be used for verification purposes. Any exhibit without confirmed satisfactory health test results by this date will not be included in the final listings for the year.
It is believed that these changes will address some of the problems in the early years of operating the annual awards scheme and will be used for future years. We will, however, review the scheme at the end of the year to ensure that it is complimentary to the BRG’s aims and objectives and is meeting the expectations of exhibitors.
We look forward to seeing friends old and new at the exciting events we have programmed for 2013.
Note: the WUSV/GSDL-BRG was founded in 2010 with the following aims:
* health test results which would allow it to pass a UK breed survey or SV Koerung.

Can I ask a question.....is the class of survey attained taken into account in the points system, whether it is a class 1 or 2 ?
by hutch on 26 March 2013 - 20:03
To enter a regional show, each animal over 2 years must have a Breed Council survey pass - class 1 or 2 - or a SV Koerung. Animals over 18 months must have health test results which would make it eligible to pass a breed survey or Koerung.
The point system does not distinguish between class 1 or 2 breed survey or Koerung.

Thanks.
Is there any plan to incorporate this into the points system? Obviously the dog which achieves a class 1 survey is deemed better healthwise and/or breed standard wise. Therefore if you have 2 dogs with equal points for arguments sake, and one is a class 1 and one is a class 2 (lets say dog 1 has a 0 elbow score, and dog 2 is a class 2 with a 2 elbow score) should dog 1 not be allocated more points/placed higher than dog 2?

Very valid point AbbyNormal.Shows how long ago i put an animal in 4 a survey,i thought it was Class 1 or fail these days ,now they,d changed the hip score details.Shirley wot denotes Cl.1 ,Cl.2 please.Carole S.
by missbeeb on 28 March 2013 - 12:03
Hip status is the same for Class 1 and 2 max of 20 with no more than 12 on one hip. Elbows are 0 or 1 for Class 1 and max 2 for Class 2.

thanks misbeeb.who,s read DOG WORLD this week?Can believe the ridiculous drivel that is being spouted out on the article....re the agreement between WUSV/KC,by a certain gentleman.Scaremongering comes 2 mind?Gun tests not appropriate,schutzund not appropriate as we dont want a blind person to sit by while his dog attacks a postman,How ridiculous,as is the quote that the breed council ,run by a small grp.of ppl.,is paying sop 2 the KC 4 taking away their CCs n telling them 2 abide by a vet check.threat been hanging over kc that the B/C will throw its toys out of the pram n take all its registrations under SV umberella.Doesnt this gentleman know that the B/C has been in exsistance since 1986,long b4 the KC threatened the breed with withdrawal of CCs(2010 or 11)cant remember which yr. for the yr.2012.....another quote...the dogs we support have a temperament that makes them suitable as family pets which is where the vast majority of GSDS(NOT ALSATIANS)are found.Here,s a dig at the working dogs .....we investigated some of the countries that appear 2 follow SV breeding requirements,particulary in Eastern Europe n we were horrified at the amount of aggression bred into gsds there from generation to generation.Do we really want all our dogs like that.It goes on in a smiliar vein.When will this gentleman take off his rose coloured spectacles n look at the "ALSATIANS" with the same prospective......many,many lines 2 epileptic dogs n dogs implicated in epileptic pedigrees(FACT,tho this person,poo poos that),very close linebreeding,half bruv 2 sister,grandsire 2 granddaughter ,etc.n until the KC stopped it father 2 daughter,mother 2 son.First get your own fraction (type in order)b4 slagging off the other fraction.TBH.I hope the League is going to issue a press release 2 counteract this attack on our animals.Sorry Shirley but i,m so angry i could burst.Carole S.
