I was taking some pics of the dogs the other day and realized that we've had the GSD almost two years already.  When we were asked if we would take her in, I came here looking for info and received so much help and people here were very generous with their info/knowledge, I was so grateful.

She is doing so well and welcoming her into our family has been such a wonderful thing that we couldn't even begin to imagine not having her.  She's been a playmate for my Lab, a speedbag for the cat, and a loving, loyal companion to all.  Despite her previous owners saying that she didn't seem to be bonding with them, we've experienced the opposite.  She's healthy, smart, goofy, playful, watchful of her home and everyone in it, and (in my biased opinion) thriving.  She's improved so much in her 'social' skills and it is such a joy to see her interact and play with our other family members' dogs - something I wasn't sure would ever happen.  She whined and cried the first time or two we put her in the truck for a ride, but now those same words "go for a ride" are met with unbridled enthusiasm.  I hadn't much experience with GSDs as a breed when we got her, but I'm as hooked on them now as I have been on Labs (my main experience/frame of reference).

I'm thankful this forum is here as I've learned so much and, while I still have much to learn, I feel much more knowledgeable about the breed and those things that make her the wonderful creature she is.  I look at her sometimes and think that the folks we got her from would surely regret their decision if they could see what we see.  When I see the posts under the Rescue forum, I just wish I could take them all in.

I would post a pic or two, but I'm not sure how (I did it once awhile back, but has something changed with the process?).

"...I'm as hooked on them now..."

That's how it happens!
