I have lost count of the number of times I've heard this statement/question "German Shepherds are herding dogs?"

Izzy at her instinct test 6/09

Izzy at her first trial 10/10

Berlin at his instinct test 6/09

Aja at her instinct test 11/10

Peaches at her instinct test 11/10

Thanks for looking.

now those are some pretty gsd!  bodies that look like they are able to perform the job they were bred for

especially appreciate the picture of Izzy gaiting, level topline, roomy gait, nice front reach, good rear drive, and look, able to do that with no roach, no over done rear!

oops, sorry the gaiting picture is on her webpage, on Izzy's personal page.

Thanks!  They're all a lot of fun to work with.

i wish more folks would take the time to find out what their dogs can do in the way of real work instead of spending all their time on a schutzhund field.
good for you & good for your dog!
best of luck to you both!

Cool,  your dogs are doing greet:)   Jami earned her HIC this summer also.   The tester had not tested a Mal before, and really liked Jami.
Keep up the good work :)
Always,

I would like to know more about herding trials. Where can I find more information about location and dates of different events

Where are you located?  In the US, you can look at the AKC website www.akc.org or the AHBA website www.ahba-herding.org.  These are the two main "all-breed" herding venues.  There are several breed specific herding organizations too for Border Collies, Australian Shepherds, etc.
