My girl had a litter in September and the last pup left in the beginning of December. She's always had a nice, tight dense coat, but she is so slick right now she looks like she has hound fur. No issues with her skin and her coat is still shiny... its just GONE! lol.... She doesnt have her belly hair or collar fur or the tufts behind her back legs. I know that stress of a litter can make a bitch blow her coat... just curious as to how long it takes to come back?

Her coat will (Hopefully) return to normal when she has her next shed cycle. Most shepherds blow coat about twice a year, spring and fall. Unless you live in florida and then they shed all year! Her over all condition looks good, just give her hair time to regrow.

I haven't had a brood bitch for a number of yeras - but what she's doing is perfectly normal. It really should come back over the next -12 weeks regardless of her "sheddng cycle" because when she comes in season again - she's gonna blow coat ((again)) but not as much as when she was bred.
we use a high quality seaweed supplement year round - to help skin/coat and avoid hot spots -- we haven't seen a hot spot in over 20 years i know that.
she should also be getting a good multi-vitamin - regardless of diet.

coconut oil and salmon oil will do wonders for the coat....
here is not the greatest example but there is about 4 months between no coconut oil and 4 months on coconut oil/salmon oil.
same dog on the right.
