I swear some folks on here never give up!!

How about a new spin on things - breeders who do the right thing and who you can trust.  I actually know a couple of them.  My Malinois boy was purchased from a wonderful breeder in WV - Hardy and Sabine Ernesting who I feel so comfortable wih and trust so much I returned to them and bought a GSD puppy.  These folks are great and know their dogs.  Their word is their bond and you can feel confident when dealing with them.

The second group of folks are absolutely wonderful.  Let me tell you my story.  In June of 2012 I purchased a female GSD owned by a gentleman named Tim Morris, he had purchased Lexie as a puppy from her breeder.  The sale was handled by a very nice woman named Particia Jordan of vom Jordan Haus.  When I purchased Lexie I asked about hips/elbows and based on the pedigree everyone felt confident there would be no problem but Patricia assured me if there was a problem it would be taken care of.  Lexie turned 2 in November and films were done, you guessed it she failed to pass her hip evaluation.  I contacted Patricia and we discussed it, well the actual breeder stated that they would not cover it as she was over 2 and their guarantee was only for 1 yr.  Paricia, her daughter Alicia and Tim got together and because I had been given a verbal guarantee from Patricia they are replacing Lexie.  I only hope I can always treat people the way these folks have treated me.

There are great honest breeders out there and I was very lucky to have found the ones I have.

Yes, there are a lot of trustworthy breeders. I've bought a lot of dogs over the years, only got cheated on one. Sadly it's usually the bad ones that get all the attention.

I hope you mean they are giving you another dog and you aren't giving Lexie up for the 'replacement' because she has HD?

I am very happy with my pup from Marienhof Kennels in Florida.  A friend of mine was looking for a pup and contacted them, and while they did not have a litter at the time, referred them to someone who did.  Very nice people.

Years ago, I purchased 2 pups from a breeder in Ga (Gunter Webber).  I like the pups so much, that I bought another from him a few years later.

Lexie will actually be spayed and an appropriate home found for her.  She will stay with me until the proper home is found even if she spends the rest of her life with me.  She will need a home as an only dog.

I have talked with Patricia at vom Jordan haus and thought she was a lovely woman, unfortunately the dog I inquired about was sold But was kind enough to give me a couple of days to think about the purchase.    But I would not hesitate to go back to see what they might have at my time of need.

Also, buyers need to take note and see what is written in their contracts before their purchase(s) and before they have a problem if one arises.  Breeders cannot take responsibility for every little detail about the puppies/dogs purchsed.  There are environmental factors which play a hugh part in raising any dog.  JUdy P you are lucky I am glad it worked out for you.  Buyers READ YOUR CONTRACTS and understand where your responsibilities lie.  GOOD LUCK  Nan

I had a great experice with Geistwasser (Bill Kulla and Jennifer Acevedo) and would/will definitely go back to them again.  I know several people with dogs from them who are very happy.

I love my breeder. My Malinois is perfect for me. I just hope she's still breeding Malinois when it's time to get another. I'll import my dogs instead of buying in the states every time. Although if that MaceMalinois here in PA gives me a good deal on a male with NO CONTRACT (cash and carry - see ya) one day - I'd buy from him. He's got a good eye for Malinois, that I know.

Finding a perfect dog is hard to do to begin with, then find out they want me to sign a contract will all kinds of BS demands, do's and don'ts ... forget that. I buy something it's all mine. Period. You won't hear from me again unless I decide to send updates, pictures or want another pup.

Why all these dogs people buy have all these problems is beyond me, I have NEVER owned a pup that turned up ill or HD or anything major or terminal threw out it's life. Every dog I've owned lived past 15 with the exception of Falcon - he was killed by a stray dog at 6 months old. (GSD) Dugan (my deceased brothers dog I inherited) is 17 now. And I've only had him on RAW/BARF for the past 5 years - after the first 6 months or so on RAW/BARF it's like he went backwards in age a few years. I know RAW/BARF expanded this dogs life - it was obvious then and now. I bet I can get Dugan past his 20th birthday. Now he can't keep up with my Malinois at all - never could, but he can still pony along side a horse at 17.

There has to be some kind of connection with the environment they are raised, exercise they get, how they are treated and the food they eat - because I don't see any of the problems mentioned on these forums with ANY of my dogs I've ever owned.

I also think, some people search out and buy from people with the intent to ruin.

A bit of a different twist, but over the past 20 years my dogs, four Rottis and now a Shepherd have all come from the same type of place, a RESCUE, they are great places to deal with, and the dogs give you so much love in return, I swear they know you saved them from a life of hell.
