Hi everyone
I am new to this formum and thought you guys might be interested to know about a project my German Shepherd Dog Jochen and I have just completed. we travelled to Switzerland from Australia for three months for extra training and then to do their BIG disaster search operational test. Jochen and I arrived back in Australia on 2nd November and Jochen came out of quarantine on Sunday.
I kept a blog of our doings - www.jochensswisschallenge.weebly.com please have a look and tell me what you think. We had a wonderful time and learned so much. The Swiss people were great and the REDOG people we worked with were so helpful and supportive.

Anti Rabies measure. Lots of S&R teams dogs have to go into
quarantine if they originate from rabies-free nations, Oz, UK etc.
Doesn't seem very fair sometimes cos they have to be vaccinated
to travel, I believe ...

Hi and welcome. I took a quick skim of your blog, your experience is interesting and it is nice of you to share it with the board. I made a working link for you, as lots of folks (like me) will often not bother to look without one.

Nice to know Jochen is settling back in at home, at last; I
hope his aches and pains go away ! Ironic, isn't it, that
S&R dogs do all this climbing about while working on
disasters (or exercise ones), but end up with more damage
sitting in a Q kennel.
(Thank you Bee for doing the link).

Hi everyone
Thank you for your interest and thank you for making a working link.
Jochen has now settled back in although it took him nearly two weeks to feel 'right' again. I took him to the Bowan Therapist last week and although is back was pretty good, the muscles on his left thigh were tight and bunched up. He a few other sore spots as well and I had to be careful walking him for a few days after the treatment.
He is still quite thin although I am pumping the food into him. When I had him weighed on Monday he weighed 34 kg. I will be happier when he is about 35.5 - 36 kg. He has had a major moult as well so with almost no under coat you can imagine that he looks and is thin.
