Micaho

In an effort to keep moving forward, these topics seemed apropos:

http://dailycaller.com/2012/11/17/after-barring-ann-coulter-from-campus-fordham-university-welcomes-infanticide-advocate-peter-singer/

Fordham, a Jesuit University, cancelled an appearance by Ann Coulter, claiming she was crude and did not reflect Catholic values.  She was replaced by Peter Singer, a Princeton professor who is an advocate for sex with animals and euthanasia for newborns with disabilities.

At least Professor Singer is not crude.

http://hotair.com/archives/2012/11/17/geithner-we-should-definitely-just-get-rid-of-the-debt-ceiling/ :

Self-explanatory.  Both Geithner and Greenspan believe the national debt ceiling should be eliminated so that the government cannot be held hostage by Congress as it was last summer.

Probably a good idea since we don't have a budget.

Not trying to be "political" here.  The election is over, after all.

When Cat Stevens converted to Islam people were burning his albums in the streets.
And what was it the Dixie Chicks did that got everyone so pissed off at them?

Ah the money changers,
Both of them need to be carried out on a rail covered in tar and feather, then confiscate their holds and give them back to the people.

How enlightened could we be....LOL

Sex with animals?

I didn't go to the links.

Moons, sure, let's take the money from those who earned it and give it those who will squander it. I often wonder why that is thought to be a good idea.

EARNED IT !!!!!!

by beetree on 18 November 2012 - 22:11

Yes, entreprenuers certainly do earn their money. I assume you are against all banks with a statement like that. Commerce needs banks. A part of society, I know... that's why we don't have good conversations. You switch "planes" at will; your ideals , and then, that doesn't sit well with what you see before your eyes.  IMHO

If I relax enough to keep it light, you switch to serious and visa versa. So it gets tedious for me. I need some kind of signal.... that might work.  No Comment is always an option, too. True.

Micaho,

I agree with no ceiling because, the truth is, at some point the debt just needs to be forgiven.  Or let society collapse. So how many countries really want what has been achieved to end, or even just be compromised?  The countries that have taken on a sociopathic character, that is whom, is what I think.

Both Ann Coulter and Peter Singer are idiots.

Anyone who earns profits by denying their workers the same benefits they enjoy (e.g. health insurance, living wage, pensions, etc) should not be allowed to keep those profits.

Bee,,

I don't understand what you mean, "At some point the debt just needs to be forgiven.  Or let society collapse."

Much of what the government owes is from the Social Security Trust Fund.  When more S.S. benefits are paid out monthly than what is collected in taxes, there will be no money for seniors.  Is that what you mean?  We also owe a lot of money to China.  I wouldn't assume they will just forgive the debt.  I think it would be easiest to cut spending over many years to get the debt down.if we could agree on what to cut.

Actually bee,
I had to run.

First off, neither Geithner or Greenspan are entrepreneurs.
Second, the people we owe money to are not going to just wipe it off the books and forgive us those debts.
Third if we didn't limit what the government can borrow do you think they would ever stop?

Who do you believe caused most of our financial problems in this country, the housing market, the bailouts, devaluation of the dollar?

Finally,I know this media leaves much to the imagination and at times misunderstandings are common place.
Sorry for that.

As for an enlightened society, I don't think those two words go together ever.

Moons.

Yes, and it will all be argued up until the point is realized there is no way the debt can be paid.  That is what the "bail outs" told us. Except, yes, the decision can be made on a global scale. It would take massive balls, though. And I don't think it will happen.

See, it all goes back to the confidence thing. If there is no confidence to carry the profit ball, well, it crashes. It will always crash, unless we just don't care about the profit as much as we care about society.
