As i was not showing anything at west yorks just there as a spectator i can say i agree with every one it was an excellent show with a very good quality entry, judging was very good, critique's again very good,(especially Mrs Groth's)  catering was good as was the bar all in all an excellent show and atmosphere and burning hot weather the one bad point was that i wasn't showing anything but will be next year i hope
To all who worked behind the scenes for this show a very big thank you to you all.

Well we are still laughing at the GSD  SHOW public I see.
As the entries get smaller and the rot sets in BIG TIME, we have the scenario of CLUB SEC. entering and winning CC at her own show.I wonder who helped appoint the judge and looked after them while they were there?

Its dying fast and no one cares as long as " I'm all right Jack ".-so disgusting -and talk about arrogant !
Then you get all the slime coming on here and congratulating them for taking the P*SS.
REST IN PEACE you genuine sheperherd lovers-you have been duped again.

Yip Pencil you are right,The lady judge addressed the handlers by their first name,How do you draw newcomers in when this is going on.If you and the judge dont know each other you stand no chance.even if a new comer came and put Zamp or Paco or any top dog in,they would be put to the back..Im glad i dont show any more.I would not encourage them.......

Lol, lol, lol... here come the groaners... as predicted... YESTERDAY!  I was on a committee for nearly 10 years; it was an enormous pleasure to be able to show at "our own" because there was no travelling to speak of and the costs, therefore, were minimal.  Given all the work one does as a committee member, it's a little payback... it does NOT necessarily mean that you get any favours from the judge!  Most exhibitors are not and never have been on a committee... it can be a thankless task and it's nice to show without the travelling.

Pencil's intense dislike of Sue is palpable, so we had a good laugh at YOU PENCIL, because we knew you'd be on here, spouting your jealous claptrap; what took you so long?

IF Sue's animals were anything less than worthy, I'd be complaining... the ticket winner is already a CHAMPION, the BPIS is a future champion (IMO) and the Post Grad winner had not been shown for two years because of the kind of crapola the PENCILS of this world write.   Nasty gossip and sour grapes does a great deal of damage to our breed and the nice people in it!

Rob, I hope you noticed that many of the handlers whose names the judge knew, were NOT at the front of the line... OH!  I know it doesn't make such juicy gossip!

Two points to make here.

Firstly..... West Yorks committee worked their socks off to produce a brilliant show for all that attended and exhibited.. there was a massive amount of work to get a show to that standard.   Secondly, I think they left themselves open to Pencils criticism by exhbiting  at their own show.   At Birmingham and District GSd ASsociation, a few years ago, a similar thing happened to one of our committee members, and a Special General Meeting was called whereby it was voted upon that NO member of our committee shall exhibit or handle at our shows.   We lost committee members because of it, but so be it - we dont have to then hear the doubt put upon animals or judge when the decision of placings is made.

Second point to Rob  -  Mel is one of our great friends.  let me tell you that she not only shows, judges, handles etc l around the world, she has a mind of her own and sticks to her point of view.  She would never hide behind a silly mask and not mention handlers by their name if she knew them.... she doesnt have to prove herself a liar... she proved herself a very competent Championship judge, and gave us all the critiques which help us to know exactly why her decisions on placings were made, and it was very well received.  do you really think that she wouldnt know PACO or ZAMP??? you insult the lady I assure you.   After seeing a number of dogs, without paper in front of her, she was able to go into massive detail on the reasons for her placings for all to see.

She will be at St Helens show this week-end, and handling, so come on - do you really want an intelligent woman to "pretend" just for the likes of you that she doesnt know top handlers in the UK.   Handlers that also go to her own country and also to the German Seiger, and know her..... thats silly.   Mel is made of stronger stuff.

There was a thread not long ago Re poor entries

I don't go to many shows now but it seems some things don't change, I was at Border Union and have never heard so much negativity around the ring, regarding  a top kennel showing under a judge to getting 3 major awards when  (the best way to put it)    he is almost family.
Yet all who were doing the complaining, not one comment. on here!!!!

For shows to survive, this kind of thing will have to stop and people need to speak out instead of complaining to each other, may not make you popular, but the way things are going, more leaving the breed there will be no shows to talk about.

As for committee showing at their own shows kinda defeats the object, if it in anyway interferes with the entries.

Hi,

I was at the show yesterday as a spectator, and although i can agree with some  of  the comments i have read so far, i put most of it down to coincidence, for instance would the people who have voiced their disapproval regarding Sue Belfield winning, be so quick to castigate  her had she been placed down the line,  i think not,  it just so happens that Sue entered three very, very good animals that probably  would have won under any Judge ,  the by laws of the West Yorks club allow committee members to show,    end of story,  forget it and move on.

Regarding the dog judge calling the handlers by name, so what? i myself call them by name when judging, it is only courtesy, it seems that your dammed if you do, and your dammed if you dont, make your mind up.

The show was an enjoyable one for most people i spoke with yesterday, good animals ,decisive, knowledgable judging, and a relaxed friendly atmosphere,  for those of you bitching, who were not there yesterday, but chose to make their comments on heresay, pop up to St Helens this week end, and if you feel the same, then at least your comments may be taken more seriously by virtue of the fact that you will actually be able to say  I KNOW, I WAS THERE.

  Regards .

       Paul Rattigan.

By the way if everybody judged the same, placing the same animals, in the same position at every show, it would be a dull hobby, dont you think?

well said paul at the end of the day it was a good show with lovely animals and a lovely day and i supose you cant please all of the people all of the time and why is it its always the same people that have to take the negatives and expand them to make 2 and 2 = 6 (only the judge knows if he/she was honest in their judging) the judge's made their decisions on the day and that is what you entered the show for and to the pencils of this world get a life of your own and stop trying to spoil ours,, there would be a few people who would have placed the dogs differently and if they are judges and get the chance to judge these dogs i am sure they will do so. that is the beauty of dog shows every one is different
