We're looking to ad another SL to the family within the next year. I want a female who will work in IPO and show well in the ring. I want her to be capable of exceeding IPO1. I also want great temperament and health. I don't want a breeder who is going to lay it on thick just to get me to buy a pup or try to sell me something they know won't meet my expectations. I realize puppies are a crapshoot and they can't guarantee the new pup will succeed but I want honest help in finding my next prospect. If I have to ship, I definitely have to trust my breeder. With all that being said, what bloodlines do you like for what I'm asking? Starting my research now so I can be well educated in my next choice. Thanks.

If asking the SL people, they may tell you to look at workingline dogs if you want a dog that will exceed in IPO/SCH.  In general, my favorite showlines are the Quenn and Ober BadBoll.

Thanks. I have both SL and WL dogs. I love the WLs too but I want a SL. I know there's some really nice ones out there just finding the right lines and breeder for what I'm searching for is my goal. I'll do some research on Quenn and Ober Badboll. :)

I am much more partial to WL's (never really been a huge fan of SL's), but I have to say, I do like the Bullinger dogs... Xenon v Bullinger is a super nice one in my opinion. I like how they are bred for their working abilities too, not just their good looks.

See Gustav's post here: http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/german_shepherd_dog/forum.read?mnr=631384&pagen=2

I also think Ursus produced many dogs with good work ethic.

As you will see from Gustav's post, the working ability can often be traced back many generations to dogs like Bodo/Bernd v. Lierberg, Lasso di val Sole, Cello von der Romerau, etc. Busecker Schloss lines almost always have good work ethic. You will see many of the dogs mentioned above in working line pedigrees too.

wow  our pup Thalia von den Oher Tannen is supposedly show lines but her father excels in the working rings.  so I looked back in his pedigree a ways and sure enough there are the very dogs sunsilver mentioned.

Thanks for everyone's info. I'm certainly going to take my time and choose wisely.  This is my male's pedigree. Just at a glance what would you expect from this pedigree?  http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/german_shepherd_dog/dog.html?id=720840

I know a female with bad boll blood and she has the most drive Ive seen in a showline so far.  She has drive, and LOTS of energy.  She never stops chasing the cats as long as she sees them.  She lives on a farm and runs around all day and still her mind goes a mile a minuite.  She is sterile but otherwise very healthy and a beauty.  On her fathers side she has Dux de Cuatro Flores  Wallace aus Agrigento mothers Quantum von Arminius and the mother is from bad-boll.

i know the lines i would say to take alook at  would be -

Hills  vom farbenspiel

Natz vom Steigerhof

Odin vom Holtkämperhof

Quartz dei Templari - Triumphs Gucci ( fantasic working showlines)

and yes the Quenn lines are nice too. ( mention already)

if you like a few kennels to take alook at i can give you a few or if you can tell me your area maybe me or other can  give you  some breeders to talk with.

good luck
