GSDguy08

So, Auggie and I were at Lowes earlier.  I was doing some obedience with him there, walking him around and just working on training in general.  He was fine around absolutely everyone, everything. And then at one point we walk and stop at the end of an aisle.  Auggie sees this guy (he was fine seeing any and everyone before) down the aisle maybe 20 feet away.  Auggie gives a very, very suspicious look.  His hair did not raise, his posture did not show fear at all, he did not back up any, but let a deep bark out at this guy until I commanded him to sitz.....and then I gave another command, to platz.  Auggie still had a look of suspicion though at that guy......After we moved on, Auggie was fine (as he was before) with every other single person in the building.  A woman in an electric wheel chair came up beside us, I let her pet Auggie, he liked her.....Was fine with everyone we talked to at Tractor Supply as well and I let a few pet him there too.    Would you guys be suspicious of that guy too? Was Auggie trying to tell me something about that guy?

I'm SURE HE WAS!  I had a situation once, where my old GSD Smoke growled at a visitor that came to our house for a party.  He did it when the guy came in the door... and then again later when the guy tried to pet him.  Smoke had NEVER growled at ANYONE... it was not in his nature at ALL.  Night moves on.. .there are lots of people at the house, and about 6-8 people stayed the night (including the man in question).  Next morning... two wallets were gone and all the cd's out of one persons vehicle... and so was was the man my dog didn't like.

So.. our dog told us before we ever had a clue.... and looks like Auggie did too!

Yep I would listen to him, they are sooooooo in tune to their surroundings and if he zero'd in on that guy, you can bet your bottom dollar something was amuck.  GOOOOOOOOOOOD boy.  Enjoy    Nan  Yeah you can trust him for sure.  However do not let it get out of control.

Yeah, he had me very suspicious about the guy too considering it was the only guy in the entire store he alerted to like that and everyone else he was absolutely fine with 100%.  I did command him to "sitz" which he stopped barking, and another command more so to get his attention (platz) and then we started walking again.

amysavesjack, smart dog.  Now you know for the future to kick someone out if the dog does that lol
