Is it me not being able to see for looking, or has this thread been removed?

Admin, are you able to say whether the poster requested removal of this thread or whether it has for some reason got lost or moved?

Spooks

Admin, it wasn't there yesterday as I had a look for it to see how Mervin was. Could find it under Gautam's name but not on thread listings for 24 September 2012

Anyway... Gautam is still alive and kicking as he posted a video on You Tube 3 days ago of his other pup. Don't know whether Mervin is still about though Confused Smile I sincerely hope he is....

Can't see how that's possible, no reason for it to go then be back. But we've found it now, lol, lol.

Well that's darned peculiar, because I definitely couldn't find it either. I check regularly, hoping for some news from Gautam.

If he has been posting videos he obviously has computer access, so I wonder why he didn't come back to the thread to say what has happened with Mervin. I am very disappointed in Gautam, I expected him to be more courteous than that somehow.

Abby, it wouldn't surprise me if we learned that poor Mervin was no longer on this earth, given his poor condition, the complexity of being able to get a solid diagnosis, and what I would imagine is the sheer expense of traveling to a larger city to seek a the aid of a more skilled veterinarian...and it wouldn't surprise me if Gautam felt he might be judged harshly here if he had made the decision we all dread making instead of trying to perservere with Mervin.  If Gautam happens to read this thread, please know that those of us who offered you advice and suggestions and encouragement would NOT condemn him if Mervin's life has ended, whether by natural cause or by euthanasia; none of us were actually living with Mervin, and it wasn't us who was paying the expenses and working to try and turn the pup around, and none of us were in the position of being able to see whether Mervin was growing weaker or becoming wearied and dull with the treatments and traveling and examinations.  If Mervin is gone, there is the small comfort of knowing that he is no longer wasting away despite all efforts to prevent it, and that he is healthy and strong in the next dimension.

It would have been courteous of Gautam to let us know about Mervin, as so many people took the time to reply in depth and genuinely cared about him.

Looking at Gautam's video of his young 4½ month old pup, I just hope he didn't subject Mervin to 10 mins of ball throwing at that age as exercise.

Hexe it is my belief that we will never learn Mervin's fate, though the very fact we heard nothing must surely mean we can assume that he is no longer alive. After Spooks post about Gautams video I have had a look and must say I share her concern about his other pup, and the extreme exercise he is subjecting an 18 week old puppy to. I think he needs guidance on this, and should come back to the board and talk about raising his other pup without issues, because I surely feel he will create some watching that video.

I can't help but wonder what the comment was that the vet made to him that both you and I asked him about. It was after that that he disappeared.

From another video he has there it would seem he is a Doctor of oral health, so perhaps he was reasonably placed to be able to meet the expenses that he was incurring with Mervin, and also have a good understanding of the things that were being put to him. He certainly seemed willing to do whatever was necessary.

No one can stand in another's shoes when you are dealing with a very sick dog, and the decisions taken are hard enough without anyone telling you that you were right or wrong. I hope Gautam realises that all he would have got from the people here was sympathy for him and for Mervin.

However, if there is something going on that he is doing inherently wrong, which the vet picked up on, he needs to acknowledge it and change it, or the same thing can happen again. It bothers me that he did not answer this question and then disappeared.

Bumping this hoping Gautam will still respond.
