A schutzhund friend from Washington was on vacation last month in San Diego for two weeks and  visited every club they could connect with- they passingly mentioned that at one of the practices -there a sable GSD bitch for a "tune up"- when protection work started- the dog lit up in the truck and parking lot.  She was in heat and the owner was trying to keep her downwind while the other dogs were working, but was in full controlled drive the whole time wanting at the sleeve. The bitch also outed from the sleeve and had pronounced ball drive.

The tune up  included using bite sleeve as a reward for the dog to do the meter jump and have some "fun time" for drive enhancement in preparation for some upcoming herding events. This bitch was said to be from working lines both sire (in Germany) and dam are schh3.

The dog was said to have a herding Championship with advanced titles in a number of different courses and stock. The owner has stock and the  fences are much higher but the dog easily jumps onto stacks of hay but never into a pen. My friend doesn't remember which club they were at.

Apparently this bitch was bred the same week, to a younger german line GSD who also has advanced herding titles in different venues-  there was some converstaion with my friend about HGH, but since there is none there, both dogs were said to have the highest titles in large flock courses offered in that area.

Does anynone know the owner(s) of either of  these dogs or how I can  connect? Thanks.

My sentiments exactly. Unless the OP is mistaken and this isn't the same dog...that's not a DDR ped.

Either way, very nice dogs! I really like to see advanced herding titles, esp. with different courses and stock.

The DDR folded in 1990.  So, of course you aren't going to find it up close in a young dog.   But if you go back in these dogs' pedigrees to when the iron curtain was still standing, you will indeed find plenty of DDR contributions, even more so for the male.  I would describe the pedigrees as national and world class schutzhund.  A mixture of several country's bloodlines including E & W German, Czech, Belgian & Dutch.

Does having several A2 and A3 dogs linebred far out have any effect? Or is the effect minimal at that point?
