Can someone please explain to me what the point is of entering dogs into the database with no sire, no dam, ergo, no lineage whatsoever, no date of birth, no picture, no anything except a name. I just looked at the latest pedigree section and there are a bunch of these with names like Bryan' Little Pal and Sugar Ruff Scruff. I guess I just see this as meaningless clutter.
Is the intent of a "pedigree database" really that difficult to grasp?

Hahaha I've thought the same thing! Great, you have a dog, congrats! But it'd be cool if we could see who is in it, or what it's done. Maybe they can't figure out how to put in the parents? I know if they're not already in the database you have to put them in. Maybe that's the confusion?

I agree.....on the other hand maybe they intend to research their dog's lineage and add more information as they discover it.

don't depend on PDB to be accurate when it comes to pedigrees.....unfortunately that's the facts:-)

Entering the info is very time-consuming, and it takes awhile to dig it up. Could be the person is planning to come back and fill in the blanks. But yeah, there ARE a lot of dogs in the database with very little info other than the name. I agree, it's pretty pointless to do that.

My Devat Adunamoir has just recently been put on, but I hit snags while
doing it - haven't given up yet, just taking a breather. LoL.
1 The 'form' crossed over sire for dam & vice versa; then would not
show the sire even though I do know he is on here.
Admins have been notified.
2 Knew I'd have to put the dam in from scratch, so have to register
her, then go back to Taz.
3 Unable to register his UK KC/BVA hip results - cos there's no slot
for that on this UScentric board! (SV yes, UK no).
Will get there eventually ! Can't speak for some of the 'pet / byb' entries .
Hopefully these are some of the things Oli is working on ?
Has not helped that my broadband has been down all today until about 10
minutes ago.

Some of the problem, I think, has to do with how the search feature works when you're entering a dog's sire or dam, and it comes back as not being in the database because somehow when the sire or dam was entered the dog's show rating or breeder's name or zodiac sign was put in as part of the dog's name....
I'm sure Oli is working on that end of things, too, as it will clean up a lot of extraneous, incorrect and imaginary pedigree entries taking up space here.
