I give an inward groan of exasperation. "WHAT DO YOU MEAN?"
Damn thing is a doorstop again! I'm just going to bring it to the shop and keep my fingers crossed it is a simple fix. What the heck could it be? If there is a power surge, and you don't have a surge protector, wouldn't it go kaput... immediately? Not a day later?
Just wondering?

Sounds like you need a new power supply.

Okay...what does that mean? Is it a cord or something worse?

What model mac is this?
by beetree on 07 September 2012 - 21:09
This is the older Intel based Imac that is considered vintage 2005 I think. It just has a power cord from the wall to the machine. Not like the power things on a laptop PC. So it is probably worse... is my guess?

yes, take it to the shop, guessing about 100.00 to fix it.

Thanks, let's hope so!

Well it is a mac so it will probably be closer to 250.00. lol.

Well, I know it is $99 for the first hour, and I'm hoping you mean it is a $100 part, so maybe I'll be able to get away with $200. That would still be worth it. My DH said, "Maybe you need to get a new one." I looked at him as if he grew two heads. I have a new one! This is the "extra" one! He says, "Well, I like using this one here." I said, "..but you have your OWN PC!"
So, how to figure that one out! LOL

Got the MAC back today, and thought I'd tell you that you were right. It was the power supply, and I paid $208.
