Ok, WHO is the Corresponding Secretary???? Cannot find who is in this position!!!!
Position is named in the WDA Bylaws, but I cannot seem to find out the description of this position!!! Went to website and could not find either that position or a name of a person holding that position!!!
Do NOT tell me it is the same as Secretary!!!! It cannot be, because then there would be NO reason to use the word "Corresponding" with the word of "Secretary."
The Bylaws has the Corresponding Secretary in charge of certain actions, NOT the Secretary!!!
When a quorum requires a certain number of Board Members, how does this Corresponding Secretary fit in??????
Think about it! If there has been ANY meeting including a Board Meeting and this Corresponding Secretary either did or did not show up, was there a real quorum???? Were then all actions now null and void as there was or was not a Corresponding Secretary attending????
The Bylaws SAY that there is Corresponding Secretary and the Bylaws ARE the rules that must be followed.
Boy or boy more and more illegal actions. Also, note that all the important positions are held by the same less than 6 people, but no Corresponding Secretary is mentioned. Maybe this is a SECRET person whose vote can ALWAYS be counted on.
Do not discount me. Read them Bylaws and look at ALL the positions on the website and please name the person with that title. Maybe I do not read English all that well, and if so, please forgive me. And then tell me what are all the jobs for this position and who is the human, as it might not be a human, but a dog, an alien from Mars, other creature.
Thank you for reading this important post and you better read the rest of the Bylaws. Remember YOU have a person who knows ALL about parlimentary rules and regulations and procedures as YOUR pres.

K9,
What leads you to believe the bylaws must be followed? They are guidelines subject to interpretation and change. Just look at some of the past examples. Secretary or corresponding secretary? I'm sure it's the same person, otherwise there would be another position and another person in the position.

K9nme,
Are you sure that you are reading the current GSDCA-WDA bylaws and not an outdated version or, possibly, the GSDCA bylaws? The WDA bylaws used to include the offices of RECORDER and SECRETARY as two separate positions. The WDA removed the Recorder position as part of an amendment process during Danny Spreitler's tenure.
Dog1,
"Interpretation" is legal, and oh so convenient.....

The GSDCA by-laws provide for a corresponding sec and a recording sec and their duties are described therein. All AKC sanctioned breed clubs are subject to AKC rules and regulations. AKC gets a bad rap often, sometimes it is justified, but they at least place some requirements on their sanctioned clubs so they can't run amuck like the WDA seems to be doing. The GSDCA By-Laws are on their website if anyone is interested - GSDCA.ORG
