Does anyone have any type of reviews/comparisons they can give me between Dogtra & Tri-Tronics E-Collars?  We're looking at getting one for training and have been told by various people they like one over the other.  Just trying to get a feel for what people like best/worst about each.

Thanks!

I prefer TriTronics, you get a better more reliable correction, lasts longer, however, they do cost about twice as much as Dogtra.  So I have used both, had to send my TriTronics in for reconditioning twice but used it a lot for a good 10 years.  Kind of depends on how much you will be using it;  what type of training and how often.  BOL  Nan

PS:  I think if I remember I got more hours of use out of my TriTronics vs. the Dogtra between charges also.  Nan

Typically, we'll be using it for both of our GSDs 3-4 times per week during training.  We need to correct/stop some behaviors we're seeing during trainnig and the prong collar just isn't sufficient.  A bunch of group members we had been training with near Chicago recommended TriTronics, but we have since moved to the Denver area and the group we're working with now prefers Dogtra.  We would be using the pulse more than a continuous stimulation, but we also have pretty intense dogs, so we need it to get to a level that will stop a behavior and not just feel like an itch to them.

Well I feel the Tritronics is better to 'stop any behavior'.  I broke up a dog fight with my Rottweiler with my Tritronics and thank god he was always wearing his collar as he was a dog aggressive male, not hugh, but they don't have to be;  just pure muscle.  The owner of the other dog was stupid enough to get in the way and got bit but I was able to call my boy off with a high correction, otherwise, could have gotten even uglier than it was.  With my Dogtra I do not feel the corrections are as strong and not as reliable.  JMO,  but good luck with whatever you do.  Nan

Hey and let me know would you as I need to buy another one for a female Samoyed I am training that refuses to listen and is a constant screaming barker at meal time.  Also forges ahead without avengience.  Cannot get her to stop forging and hate the barking, soooooo, well that's about it.
