How old?

by Six13 on 21 August 2012 - 12:08
She's 17 months old.

Is she showing any signs of lameness?....

by Six13 on 21 August 2012 - 12:08
No none at all. In fact she is extremely quick and agile. Was considering having a littler later in the year and decided to have her hips x-rayed.

Well, the litter is out of the question.

Clearly! Would you say this is a good x-ray?

The positioning looks great but definitely severe HD on the right side. My sister had a dog once with almost no sockets and she was the most gorgeous mover you've ever seen. They don't always show any symptoms at all until they start getting arthritis in the joint. My Czech import was showing signs when I got her at 4 Yr's old and she is severe in both sides. She yelped when I moved her back leg one day to trim her nails, so that's why I x-rayed her, but she also bunny hopped a lot and had little muscle mass in the rear. So each dog is different.

I'm sorry--that one hip looks quite bad. The left hip is better, but I think it would be mild at at best--there is very little depth to the socket. You can also see muscle atrophy in the thigh--I bet if you measured that right thigh, it'd be significantly smaller than the other.
