Hello my people, my bitch's on her 11th day of heat, yet her vulvar's not that swollen as expected. Her discharge started as normal "dark" red and began to light-up to bright red, although it's not as "light" or "pinkish" as supposed to be. I intend to mate her later-on. But from my observation, her vulvar is not that swollen as like in her first heat. Has any one any related idea or expirience?

It can be a split heat..do a Progesterone..otherwise check her thyroid..good luck

I don't think it to be split-heat, because she had been discharging since on the 4th. The only question "mark" is : why her vulvar isn't that swollen, as her first heat(was very swollen/conspicious)?

i would guess that her hormones are not as strong this time, why its not as swollen, i can also say as i have a female that never swells up like you would thing she should and she still breeds and still has pups, it has alot to do with the level of hormones.

every heat cycle is different
do you intend to breed her, it might be difficult this time.

Proper spelling is "vulva"  and it sounds like a split heat to me, I've had them before that sound just like yours.  Doing a progesterone test will give you the answer.

if its a split cycle she will stop bleeding and then start again  if she is still bleeding its not a split. it just could  be  that her hormones are not as strong this time. my one bitch breeds  everytime i breed her and she stay small.
