The description states 'low in protein' and low in fat. This type of food tends to be fed for a reason, whether it is for allergies, specific immune problems, weight control etc.
Burns is quite well known for being a relatively good food BUT, also dogs tend to lose weight or not maintain weight well on it. If you chose Burns I would look at the ingredients of one of their normal range. I don't feed kibble, so couldn't make immediate comparisons without looking it up, on the other hand I wouldn't be looking for a low protein/low fat food to feed a growing 8 month old GSD, nor would I be looking for a protein level off the chart. A good middle range adult food would do just fine.

Your vet must have meant raw pork. I rotate between all three Back to Basics dog foods. the turkey, the venison and the pork. I haven't had any problems with the pork. It is five star rated dog food.
