Thoughts on these hips, please?

Not my dog, posting for a friend. Vet said won't pass OFA, so would like to hear what everyone here has to say about them. Dog is currently not showing any signs of HD.

Thanks

I would say Borderline to Mild. Compare these to OFA's moderate and they're not that bad. They look Mild or Borderline on a good day. JMHO

it's interesting (to me) that you say this bitch is not showing any signs of HD -- Not everyone seems to know that you could have just barely questionable hips and be "lame" a good part of the time - or you could show horrible HD on x-ray - yet rarely exhibit difficulty "getting around" --  My first Shepherd was very very poorly bred - and when we had her x-rayed - the vet said - I can't believe she can even walk !!  yet she lived to be nearly 11 and could still do stairs at the end -- she had sufficient muscles and ligimentation and in older age - she compensated by developing her front end to do more of the work -- soo good for her !!

I'm also curious to know whether this dog is American bred/ W. german/ E. German or something else?  I  had an interesting conversation with a very good vet who felt that some E.German lines actually exhibit "different" conformation of the hip joints - and what would be quite dysplastic in a dog of different lineage - may be just the way this particilar dog's genes developed these particular hips -- shallow acetabular rims, etc...etc...  they're not textbook perfect - but they may not be dibilitating either - except maybe in extreme old age we don't know.

Thanks for the input.

She is 1/2 German Show Line (Kirchental), and 1/2 American Show Line (Stuttgart's Sundance Kid).
