Dixiebelle

by Dixiebelle on 27 July 2012 - 23:07

I apparently have a sick puppy today. He just threw up 4 times, all food. I recently (and slowly) switched his food. He was doing fine the first few days but just a few minutes ago he threw up everything in his stomach. I am going to buy the old food I was feeding him since I know he was doing good with that. I don't know if it was the food or not because his stool is still firm. I was wondering if it would be better to just feed him whtie rice or white rice with boiled hamburger. I am wanting to put him on a very bland diet for a few days before I put him back on food. Any suggestions?

How old is your puppy? You may want to take him in and let the vet check him out first.

He is 16 weeks today. He has all of his energy, not dehydrated, and no temperature. I'm thinking it is either the food or he just got so excited. I just got back from work about 10 minutes before that and he gets super excited when I come home. I know if he does it anymore I will take him into the vet tomorrow. But even after that he was running around and playing.

Don't feed him any rice, if the puppy doe not have a fever and is alert, is most likely that he swallowed something,I have seen this many times,it might take 3-5 days to pass whatever he swallowed...sometimes 2 slices of white bread weigh olive oil help pass whatever is in there faster..good luck

Your vet is your best bet for now. Not returning to the old food. A lot and diverse kind of things can cause such throw-ups: foreign bodies, infection, bacteria, food poison, on set of parvo-virus, indigestion, worms etc. See ur vet. Goodluck.

Thank you so much. I will try that. I really don't think he needs to go to the vet just yet so I'm willing to try anything.
