I was curious if Ibrahim or someone else has any comments about the advisability of taking a GSD to Qatar or middle east. I realize that dogs are not considered clean. How do they stand the heat, though most of the time they will be indoors in an A/C house. If I go, it will be a job related move. My dog is mostly a companion.

As long as they are aclimated, there should be no problems unless there is a medical condition.

Like Alboe sez, as long as they don't already have an established medical (eg heart) problem, and you are careful with
them, giving them as much access to shade, water, etc, as you can, and don't expect them to do the equivalent of 'military duties' standing outside in the sun all day, dogs should be fine with the climate.

In regard to the cultural side,  this is just a guess based on working for a Muslim household in this country:  some
people are more anti dog / afraid of dogs / believe in the idea that the dog is 'unclean'  than are others - you may
end up pleasantly surprised by how many people actually do like and take an interest in your dog.  But again, the
thing is to be very careful, and considerate;  keep the dog on leash around people until you know them and how they
react to dogs,  don't let it foul the streets, or 'get in anyone's face', and I think you'll be fine.
