Posted on a health group on facebook:

"The news from the AHT is that the JRD test run by Doggenes for any breeds other than Lhasa Apsos and Shih Tzus has been discontinued.

Several peer reviews have found that double blind samples have proved that the DNA test for all other breeds is totally unreliable."

Please don't shoot the messenger - I am trying to ascertain if this is true.

I've never bought into this DNA test.

I got a free one, and my Aussie mix came back all sorts of weird breeds - everything but Aussie, basically.

Aaahhhh !!!  Initials  !!!   Doppelganger, are we talking Juvenile Retinal Dysplasia,  or, as I suspect, the kidney thing ?
If the latter, cannot say I am surprised by the AHT anouncement, because this did seem to be a red herring in GSD, at least.

'Videx' will probably know if its true ??

The RD test has been scientifically published February 8, 2011, as is required for such tests. this allows ANY laboratory ANYWHERE to fully test it. TO MY KNOWLEDGE - NO LABORATORY HAS COME FORWARD TO CHALLENGE THE TEST IN ANY WAY. This is normal when a DNA test proves to do what it states. If and when ANYONE or ANY Laboratory states this test has something wrong with it in any way (except of course that THEY do not hold the patent on it) they should publish this - and NOT anonymously.

You can read the scientific publication here:

The following comment is  posted with permission of Mary Whiteley PhD:

I have been advised that someone has posted on Facebook that DOGenes RD testing has been discontinued for breeds other than Lhasa apsos and Shih tzus.
This statement is not TRUE.
NO comments about DOGenes and our products that are posted on social media should be taken seriously. If there are any announcements you should check the DOGenes Website. This is the only reliable source.
Sincerely,
Mary H. Whiteley, PhD
