Look at this picture and try to find out when this female was born and out of which lines she might be.
I know, the picture is black and white, otherwise it would be too easy...

Head, shoulders, forehand, withers, back, hindquarters....SchH3, KKL1

Hey, miras, that´s not fair!
I only wanted to show all of you this outstanding female, Betty vom Glockenland, born in 1965, VA1 in 1967.
This dog is amazing, she still would get her V-rating, and she was born 47 years ago!
She looks like a "modern" showline, but she was born years before there was the split between show- and workinglines.
I love this female!

Another one... ( Mirasmom - No )
Look at angulations, withers, topline...
When might this dog be born?

That's Alf von Nordfelsen, VA1. I'll have to look up the date, but I think it was late '50's - early '60's.

I have him in my picture file, because hie reminds me a lot of my male GSD, in colouring (but maybe not so much in structure!) Also, he was a popular sire on this side of the pond.

Edit: I was way off! He was born July 23, 1949!

Here's an interesting article about the 1955 sieger show, when he took the VA1 placing.

Thank you very much, Yellow!
I didn´t know this report.
In my opinion it´s important for the "younger" ones to see, that there have been well structured dogs decades ago.
Hasn´t changed that much at all.
Kind regards,
Susie

[who's 'Yellow'?]

Don't thank me, thank Ferrum GSDs, who has done SO much to preserve the history of our breed, by posting pedigrees, photos and articles of dogs from years gone by!

I think that males have changed more than females.
