What sport makes it easier for a dog to transition into LE dogs? From a protection/obedience standpoint only, since FR has no tracking.

never mind the tracking comment, think PSA does not have it either.

No sport is better than the other. It depends on the individual dog. The hunting drive is just as important (if not more important) than the others so it has to be a priority.

What  French Ring does better than say IPO is tests a dogs endurance and agility. IPO tracking is an OB thing and FR does not have  a real hunting test. I know nothing about the other sport mentioned.

I agree with Koach that hunt drive and nose work are used by LE dogs more than probably any other component on a consistent basis....plus most depts today want to see dual purpose dogs for patrol and drugs or explosives. As the officer that got my last dog told me, I know he has good bite wok.....I am more concerned with his intensity and endurance in nose work. This is PD for urban city!

so as long as hunt drive and scent is strong, you can just as easily take a FR3 or PSA3 dog and retrain to do LE work? The reason I ask is I have been told that it is easier to transition a FR dog into PP than a IPO dog, so was somewhat wondering how PSA fits in, since I have not had a chance to view first hand.

Hey Koach, I'm not very familiar with PSA either but looks like fun (think it is only available in US right now): http://www.psak9.org/

I train my dogs for PSA. It has no tracking but, IMO, tests hardness and courage better than any other sport. It's not just sleeves. There are suits and hidden sleeves. Everyone has their opinion, but that's just mine. I would think in that aspect, PSA would be suitable for a LE dog. Tracking you would have to train additionally.
