Hard to find any west german line dogs that do not have his kennel in the pedigree as the t-litter is probably fero's mosy notable producers. I too would like to see what others have to say but you will find that most "real knowledgable" people on this subject stay as far away as they can from from this place. Best bet is to call the like of hanrahan, miller, trainor & others who have been around for many years. Mollly may give her input but I don't see her here much anymore either. I think most just know that these dogs are good to see in a ped. It would also help if you clarify what dogs from the kennel in particuilar. I hear quasy could throw throw some nerve issues but that is really nothing more than hearsay. Good luck. Kurt

This is my current working dog's pedigree.

http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/german_shepherd_dog/dog.html?id=640962

H
e goes back to both Troll and Timmy and there are a lot of other dogs in his pedigree but for what its worth...

My personal experience with him in a nutshell:

The good:
Calm full grip
Hard grip!!
Launches on escape and long bites.
Strong civil aggression
Very much wants to please his handler in obedience.
Clear headed.
Very clean on-off switch between field and house.
Thinks the sun rises and sets on children.
Very aloof with strangers (unless its a child then he wants all the pets)
Good hips
Nice head

The bad:
Slow to mature
Prey drive took more work to express than natural defense.
Requires consistency and patience in training (not saying this is a bad thing, just that with him I had to be very consistent in how I worked an exercise until he got it and if you mess up, you go two steps back for one step forward.  However, once he *got it* then it was proofed and variables could be added in.)
Bit long in the body
Slightly curvy tail.

First, I'd say that this is a kennel, not a bloodline.

It's a kennel that has produced a high number of very good producing dogs in the past 20 years, though, and it is incredibly common in working bloodlines because of the two top-producing Fero sons.

However, the dogs from this kennel are not all known for the same things--even Timmy and Troll are considered to pass on different attributes (Timmy is said to pass on more Fero-type attributes, while Troll is said to pass on more of his mother). So, you really need to ask about the individual dog from this kennel rather than the kennel.

I'd say it WAS a kennel, that's NOW a bloodline (or two).  Timmy and Troll are also considered to pass on similar attributes, and therefore used with success in many T-litter linebreedings.  There aren't many kennels at all that offer more than a couple very noteworthy producers in thier entire breeding careers, and this kennel is no real exception outside of Timmy and Troll.  So, not to be argumentative, but in this instance I would view them as bloodlines, and very prolific ones at that.

I'd say that T vd BN is 2 paths to Fero. And what about Quasy? Totally different.

OK 3, but Quasy is fading (I think, but you might disagree).  I agree about them both as Fero lines, but each of the T-boys deserving of their own distinction, just as Eros and Ellute are distinctly different offerings to the Tom v'Leefdalhof line.

I guess I still think of a bloodline as something both more distinct and more general than an individual producer or three. Like people still talk about Koerbelbach/Bungalow lines (don't they?)--and there are many other breeders that have these dogs as part of their foundation -- Barenfang, Saltzalblick and Saltzal-Hohe.

I would say that, for example, Czech border patrol dogs -- going back to the older DDR dogs and bred strictly for work for a number of years -- is a bloodline. They go back to a common group of dogs, were bred for similar traits that are found in most of the dogs from the bloodline, and have been bred into other bloodlines to bring their special features to the other lines. I also think of a bloodline as tending to have a somewhat restricted genetic pool--it goes back to its foundations via many paths.

Blackthorn:

You mentioned that " it was said Timmy passes on more Fero-like attributes."  Could you please expand upon this?  I have 2 Fero great-granddaughters available to me to import and I think your comments would be helpful.

Thanks.
Cassandra
