Does anyone know if swimming in pool if chlorine will affect my puppies coat color

by brynjulf on 18 June 2012 - 22:06

My hair turns green when I spend too much time in the pool.  If it can discolor my hair I imagine it could do the same for a dog.

I do not allow dogs in chlorine it is poison...
Do not let my dogs drink water with chlorine...it is poison to them and us...

Before I moved to the country with a well , filtered 3 times and inside also with brita....I bought water and used filtering on the dogs water ...

What you put on your body and in your body is YOUR HEALTH..

THIS generation is now learning how we have for too long been eager to have INStanT oatmeal instead of cooking OATS>

Chlorine is very much used in too many things and I still use it to mop my tile floors but I do it sparingly and in a time that no one walks on it until it is dry.

All chemicals of somekind have lots of long time side effects.

MY family just built a new swimming pool here in Texas and SALT WATER is now being used IN ALL POOLS..

AND IT IS WONDERFUL FOR SKIN AND FOR HEALTH.

THE dogs jump in and love it..but it is not too much fun to have to filter dog hair so we do not let it happen too very often..

LAKE TYLER  is only a half a mile away....TAKE YOUR DOG TO THE LAKE ..

or to the Beach>>OR CONVERT YOUR POOL TO SALT.

Chlorine isn't good for them. I've let Luna in it for really short amounts of time, then a bath afterwards. It is a chemical and can cause problems. Some dogs are fine, just like some are fine if they eat chocolate. However, some don't tolerate it well.

I have the ozonator or something like that. Uses less chlorine than some other pool systems. My dog suffers no ill effects from swimming in the pool. Chlorine also breaks down over time in sunlight so it isn't like it is accumulating toxicity, like mercury.

Just rinse the pup off with a fresh water hose, when you are done, and he'll be fine. They also sell clarifying shampoos that are used to remove chlorine from hair. (Both my boys are swimmers.   )

Your pool guy just didnt bother to tell you that there is ONE big  DIFFERENCE IN THE CHLORINE

THAT THE SUN TURNS THE SALT INTO   DID He???

NATURAL CHLORINE is not harmful like CHEMICAL CHLORINE..IS.... sorry but YOUR POOL GUY  has no clue.

the reason that people are going to NAtural TYPE  cleaning and NAtural EATING  is the harmful very harmful exposure to bad chemicals has on your liver and your whole system

I know people say...oh I see no harm ...now you may not...but also dogs take maybe a year of so or some may never be affected but I know for sure it is not good for any dog or  human to ingest chlorine in a chemical formula.

THE sun also turns lemon juice into a  bleach in fact you can remove stains of a white blouse with lemon , salt and sit in sun for 30 minutes....... ALSO vinegar and hydrogen peroxide also clean your kitchen  but does it eat your skin or your liver or burn your hide off???NO

POOL people are sometimes not versed in  REALITY...MY FAMILY CHOOSES to swim in a healthy environment...THE SUN TURNS TO SALT TO  NATURAL not chemical...no other chemical is used in a salt water pool..

We already researched it..you can stay in this pool all day and never have any kind of reaction and your do not have to go buy shampoos and do all the detoxifying your body..

Bee:  YOUR DOG HAS ALREADY ABSORBED INTO HIS SKIN  all the chemicals..you only wash off parts so that he feels good..

EVERYONE has a choice, yes, but I chose the healthier one. I use to own a pool and I spent my life cleaning, buying chlorine tabs, and PH UP and baking soda, equipment to clean it, spent hours cleaning filters full of nasty and eyes that burned, swimsuits faded and eaten up in two months from c\hlorine, and years of keeping it clean and pretty...MY skin took a beating and my kids eyes burned and they hated the chemicals
Below is Duchess on the table in my pool roowondering do I or do I not.. This is a chlorine pool in my home down south.

I don't have the SALT one. I have the Ozonator one. Nothing turns into salt! LOL It makes it so we use LESS chlorine than the older systems. Yes, it is a choice. One he makes on his own, especially when we don't use the bungy cord on the childproof gate. He opens that at whim.

Most of the pool companies in TYLER  area do not like to put in pools now unless you do the salt water system.

Only thing the system runs on is salt..period..no other chemicals.

SUN TURNS salt to the chlorine naturally and it is wonderful

soft to your skin .

Ozonator was on my pool down south but still have to have a high content of chlorine when guest or when you swim..the minute the level goes below a certain point you have to add chlorine. WITH THE CHLORINE  you have to add ph plus a whole bunch down south as the rain is ACID and up here also the rain is very acidic so your PH gets all out of wack very very easily..

THE SALT WATER Pool is almost manintenance proof...nothing much to it...

My daughter would never entertain another pool with chlorine...

Until you have had a salt water pool you have not enjoyed the soft easy way to swim with no worry of washing off anyone...or anthing..

but I want no more pools ...I swim in theres..

Lake TYLER  has several places that are clean to swim the dogs...some lakes are not fit for dogs or  humans..
