Is there a way I can find out if the dog is registred unlimited through the AKC website?

not likely, you will have to try and find the dog owner and ask them. the akc will not give you the owner's name or address. it can be very difficult to get the info here in America.

Neither thru the AKC's Web-site nor by calling them...Can you get any info on any dog...

Well a puppy was sold with limited registration (with application/pin was removed). There is  suspision that the puppy buyer may have found a way around the limited registration and the dog was registred with full registration instead without the breeders ok.
All the other info on the puppy (Dog reg number, name and parents of the dog, DOB is on hand) just not the fact if the dog is limited or full registred.

AKC says that you must black out those numbers well, not with a marker as if it's held up to the light it may be able to be figured out.

So breeder took the pin out as in cut it out? or blacked it out? 

AKC should be able to tell the breeder if the dog is is full or limited.

You can sign up for an online account for breeders records and it will tell you which pups have full or limited registration.

I agree with Bhall.  I use the MyAKC to track breeder records.  It has all pups for a litter listed and tells you if they've been registered yet and, if so, if it is full or limited.  You do need to be careful with those pin numbers.  I saw one at a breeder's house almost 7 years ago and STILL remember the number.  Didn't matter for me as I was being given full registration anyway and wouldn't try to get it if it wasn't promised to me.  However, if you try to remove or black it out while the buyer is there, it's easy for someone dishonest to remember it and use it when they get home.  You also need to scratch into it with a pen to the point the paper there is messed up and definitely cannot be read even if held up to the light or looked at from the side (the numbers stick out a tiny bit, enough for someone to get a look if they try hard enough).  Best thing is to cut it out before people come over.  I personally prefer to register the pup in the new owner's name myself when it is picked up.  I have the confirmation go to their e-mail address and print out the receipt for their binder so they have proof it was done but the application never leaves my house.  I follow up and when they have received their papers I destroy the applications.  It's expensive but worth it to me.  I have three major reasons for this.  1 - It ensures I am being given a correct address.  Give a false address and you'll never see those papers.  2 - It ensures the puppy is limited (ALL pups leaving my house are limited).  3 - It ensures that the application is not later used on another dog.  It's becoming more and more common for people to just do the online registration then sell a different dog with the application as "AKC registerable".  When the buyer tries to use it, it'll send up red flags because it's already been used but they won't know that until they try it.  By that time, the dishonest seller is impossible to find.  They have an annoying habit of doing their transations in places other than their home for a reason.

Whats the difference between a limited and unlimited registration?  At work and cannot "google" this myself at the moment.

Limited means you cannot breed the dog and register its offspring with AKC.  It can be lifted but only by the breeder.  Unlimited or full registration allows you to breed the dog and register its offspring with AKC.  Full registration cannot be changed to limited.
