Hello everyone,
I am new to this site, i was told by a few friends to come on here and ask for some peoples advice.
I Live in Canada and have been checking out some of the working line breeders here, This will be our first Shepherd, a couple of our friends have them and are doing schutzhund with them, this is what we are wanting to get into.
I came across one breeder that i was interested in , Stormy magic Shepherds,         http://www.stormymagicshepherds.com/Home.html
does anyone have any personal opinions about this kennel?
good or bad?
The female i was interested in for a future litter was elfi, i clicked on her pedigree link, and it says noch zugelassen under her name and a couple others,
could anyone tell me what this means?

Thank you for your help

"noch zugelassen" translates to "still breedable".

this dog has been graded with mild hip displacia.

in Germany she can still be considered for breeding if she is bred to males with only with (a)1 mormal hips.

the worse the sire and dam's hips are the more likely the puppies will have less then good hips.

To be perfectly honest,I would stay away from that dog, and would NEVER even consider using that dog for breeding, even to excellant hips. Why temp fate? At least the breeder lists true rating, says something about their honesty. But I would even consider any dog with that rating.

gsd guy;  well I think they offer a ton of information to new time puppy buyers and I really like that;  however when it comes to their health certifications they do fall short.  I see hip/elbows but that is all unless I have not looked on their site in the right place;  I could not find any cardio or DM or Mega E or Thryoid or eye cerf's.

If I may say for my first time german Shepherd I wished I would have payed more attention to health clearances as my boy that died at a few months before 8 years old had DM, and a conditon called pannus (eyes) which they go blind.  All could have been avoided had I known a little more about the breed and had more information been available to me at that time (2002);  so now we have these tools available to us;  why not use them.

Best of luck in your quest  for finding your puppy.  Nan
