If you felt a weight bearing shift in the hips of a 6 month old puppy, would you immediately assume bad hips and pass on the purchase of the puppy?  Or, is this common in dogs you see, and could it be chalked up to a normal developing hip?  Looking for some feedback from experience.

Are you feeling (hearing) a clicking sound? Or just feeling a shift? I don't really even know what you mean by feeling a shift, actually.

If you are hearing a clicking sound, that can often indicate laxity and would mean you should probably do an xray to actually diagnose the problem.

Ask for prelims. 6 months is old enough to have them done.

Just have the dog xrayed and you will have your answer.
