Rose does not seem to want to nurse the puppies today.  I checked her tits;  look ok except one.  The one is semi hard and has a knot beside it (on the stomach).

What can I do?

How old are the pups now?
You can try using a warm compess on the affected glan and see if that helps with any soreness and allows the milk to be expressed. If the milk cakes in the glan you cluld have problems.
Call your vet in the morning.

That would be my first guess.

SHe has problems and her tits are hard and impacted..

use warm wash rags and go run buy BAG BALM   at the Feed store or Tractor supply

Mix some forumla ....1 can goats milk   evaporated or evaporated milk...one egg white, whipped, 1 tbs white karo....1 can drinking water w no choline..(same amt as the milk )refridgerate unused for only two days...
shake up well....put into a bottle and heat in water......DO NOT MICROWAVE>.it kills all the vitamins.

Put in a pet baby bottle from feed store or pets mart...feed pup laying on side..

HOw old are they?

I will not tell anyone how to tube feed. I would be in trouble  ...

if you use the warm compresses, she may take one pup at a time..

How many and how old are they/

Put one pup at a time and make her lay in her box while you keep her calm . Stroke mom under the chin while pup eats...put them on the other side from the one hard one...get very warm compresses on it now.

Ok.  I put a warm rag on it.  I also called the vet and sent pictures.  There is also a red spot about 1 inch from the tit.  The rest of the tits look ok.

There are 9 puppies and they were born on 4/16 (3 days old).

We aren't thinking mastitis at this point, being as there was no mention of foul scented discharge, or yellow creame colored discharge, right? Other than that, I agree with what has been suggested, a warm rag, keep it clean, and until you know what it is, keep the puppies off of THAT particular teat.

Just keep pups off her BO BO

make her let them nurse on other side...maybe three at a time..since there are 9
wow

But get some emergency Formula things in case of further problems...keep it always on hand  in two weeks they can slop slop out of a pie dish if it happens..

One question:  DID you give her calcium supplements along the way???????

I gave her 1 calcium tab the last week of the pregnancy and 2 tabs during the welping.  I am now giving her 2 tabs a day.  This is all per her vet.

Additionally, she gets 2 multi-vita a day.

Extra calcium in pill form causes mega problems

Only give a bitch calcium in real food..

Never give a whelping bitch any calcium pills

Most dog food has sufficient
Feed canned dog food  top brand puppy food for choline and extras...and add yogurt and cottage cheese to dogs food and or   Powered milk on top of food daily

Calcium forms calcified problems in the breast ...and that gives your big problems...

German shepherds are prone to this...I never ever use Pill form Calcium supplements and warn against it..

I do not care what vet told you that..Unless your female has a medical problem and cannot digest calcium from dog food..no pills or calcium supplement in that form is needed..  If pups needed extra the pups would be in distress and that is not so..

When pups start to eat,,you feed things that give natural calcium not pills.

Can you post the pics so we can see them?

I would not give calcium past whelp and only if needed for a hard whelp, light contractions or a tired bitch.
