Yeah, it was a shocking story. She was president of a local ScH club too. I remember when it was posted here the first time. ScH people ran to her rescue and defended her and then other posters said they were pathetic for defending her and it got ugly. After awhile, I stopped reading the posts. :-(
But, if she really is mentally ill than I wish her much success in getting the help she needs and I hope she can move forward and be in a better place (psychologically).......

well I like the fact she has to pay 24,000 in restitution, but will be surprised if it get's paid.
So what happened to the dogs? Does she get them back?? I dunno, it seems like when court cases keep getting postponed or take a long time to go to trial, not much is done by then:(

As for her dogs, it appears as though the town plans to
sue her?
One would think that the town still has physical
possession of the dogs if she has been ordered to pay
restitution.

'Under the program, which is for offenders of nonviolent crimes who exhibit either mental or emotional problems, Pieger did not plead guilty to the multiple charges of animal cruelty against her, but was placed on two years probation. She was also ordered to pay $24,000 in restitution to the town of Stratford for treating and taking care of her dogs. A hearing has been scheduled before a civil court judge on May 8 on a suit by the town to take the dogs away from Pieger.
