handlers - Page 1

when you bring your dog to a show and have a handler show them, what is the fee for them doing that. Also im not familiar with all the abrevations on these chats. could some one post them to clarify.  I have never shown in conformation or any other type of shows except for 4h 20 years ago, and would like to show my puppy. she is a show line but am also interested in schutzhund as she seems to be doing well in that area.

In a conformation show, handling fee is usually the same as the entry fee for the class.

About Schutzhund, well it all depends on who trains and trials your dog.

I am not sure how the fees are handled in the SV conformation showing, but I  know for certain that in AKC conformation, the fees varies with each handler according to THEIR experience or accomplishments.  The price of the entry fee for each class has nothing to do with the amount any individual handler will charge.  

I am only making this statement according to my own experiences when I was showing in AKC conformation.  My handler did pretty good and was very reasonable considering he had one of the hardest color of GSD dog to finish at that time, and that was a sable. I am talking about 18 or so years ago. I am sure others may have other opinions to share with us.

In the AKC comformation ring some of the top handlers fees are well over $100 dollars per class for some of the specialty shows. It has been a few years ago since we showed in the AKC ring so these fees may have increased.
