Victoria Harter

Hello Everyone. I want to know what everyone thinks of this breeding. I know there hasn't been alot of health testing done with these dogs as only the Dad has had his hips x-rayed and the mom hasn't had any and there has been no DM testing. Which really drives me crazy! But just looking at the pedigree what is everyones opinions. I'm thinking about just taking the chance and purchasing one of these puppies. Thanks

I
have been very frustrated in this hunt for a dark sable female out of working lines.  I see people selling puppies for$1000-$2000 when one or both of their dogs have degenerative joint disease grade 1. Of course they only advertise their fair or good hips and withhold the other information and you have to find out when you look up the dog on the OFA database!

If anyone has any recomendations on a good breeder that does health testing and good pedigrees with dark sable puppies please let me know :-) Thanks

They're pretty dogs, but what have they proven? Any titles? And the testing thing bothers me. Check out this, I'm planning on getting one out of the next litter (Dolores/Irmus). http://www.sequoyah-german-shepherds.com/upcominglitters.htm

victoria, what do you want to do with your pup?

while a dark sable is pretty to look at, if the rest of the dog falls short of what you're expecting you might not be happy.

companion, protector, agility, rally, obedience, schutzhund, tharapy.....

first you need to decide what attributes (other then color) you're looking for.

I myself would jump on getting one of those pups if I was in the market for a working line pup.I like the entire pedigree (esp. Puck) What kind of guarantee is being offered? And a real consideration is what are you going to do with your dog! If you are not very active, and have limited yard and exercise area,Based on experience, don't go there. These are no couch potatoes. If you want sport,I think you will be very satisfied.

You can scratch http://www.ehretgsd.com/ off the list.  Parents aren't certified, yet anyway.
