So I finally clicked on that favorite dogs link. Not really knowing when it was implemented I find myself loving that thing. Would be interesting to see people post pics of your current favorite top dogs.

Beutiful dogs they are just to sloped back and legs but stunning dogs otherwise

Gorgeous dogs! you sure have a certain "type" don't you! ( good eye) Both the SL and WL shown here are exceptional examples of the breed. Would be proud to have any of them eating cookies on the couch :)

Those are very interesting pic. Thank you for putting here. While going down the page, I was reminded of a post I made awhile back. The post refered to the show and work lines becoming blended so much that in the post I said : If you compared the out line of a GSL and the modern WL, you would not be able to tell the difference between the two. Of course, I was mocked for the statement, but these pictures deffinately support my observation. That is the inevitable result of breeding WLs for the show ring.

Good thread. I have to go back a few years to pick favorites. I don't care for the coarseness and the heads of many current SL's.

I prefer a more athletic look, not so much stop and longer muzzles like these SL dogs. I don't know enough of the WL's to pick favorites but I think I would like the conformation of more of today's WL's than SL's.

myret - you are confusing the way in which they are stacked for their backs being too sloped......
in show lines, massive arched heads are the flavor of the day.... but not what is stated in the standard.

The eyes are of medium size, almond-shaped, slightly slanted and not protruding. The colour of the eyes should be as dark as possible. Light, piercing eyes are undesirable since they impair the dog’s impression."
