My DDR bred girl earned her CGC tonight!!! I know it's not ScH or anything super awesome but it is our FIRST AKC title ever!! She was the youngest dog to pass at 10 months old and the ONLY dog to do a 3 minute down stay with me out of sight without moving a muscle, barking, or whining!!! In fact, nobody else even attempted the down stay! Only 3 dogs passed out of 7 and we had to go first...yikes! But, she rocked it!! :-0
Now, she can add CGC to her UKC Championship title!! WOOHOOOOOOO!!
What made it even cooler was that it turned out the exmainer was into Protection sports!! After everyone had tested, we connected about Sch and she is in an active club that does ScH, French Ring, and something I forgot..something like IP. Anyway, she loved my pup and was impressed which made it even sweeter!!! She said she has Mals now but started with GSDs....
Anyway, I can't believe we got our first AKC title!!! We are entered for rally and obedience in less than 2 weeks so please wish us luck!!!!
Thanks,
Sara

Good job! Sounds like you enjoyed it and your dog did as well. Good luck on your future trials!

That's wonderful, Sara. Good luck with the OB and rally. Rally is my favorite AKC sport.

Thanks guys!! I am so Gosh Dang proud of her..I can't tell you!! Before and after the test she was so dignified and well behaved. She just laid down in the middle of the chaos of dogs jumping around her trying to get to each other; dogs walking right next to her and she stayed put; people constantly walking around her to be the "crowd" for testing and she didn't bat an eye. They were running full blown agility next ring (complete with the customary yapper who had to announce to the world how happy he was doing agaility..which did actually make me smile!!) and she ignored them (maybe because she already had her agility lesson earlier today..hehehe). At one point, in the middle of the chaos, she laid flat on her side and closed her eyes!! Too funny!! My high drive puppy who won't let me get up to go the bathroom without charing over because I actually moved a little was so relaxed she was almost sleeping!! hahahaha
Blitzen, rally is pretty fun and I do kind of like it better than obedience (just a bit) because every course can be different and unpredictable!
Ok, can you guys tell I am on cloud nine! So pathetic!! It SERIOUSLY does not take much to make me happy!! I think I will, literally, die if we ever get our ScH 1!!!
Thanks again,
Sara

My dog seems to enjoy rally more than OB and so do I!! It's faster and not as regimented. Any dog that is OB trained can qualify in rally. Most dogs fail due to handlers' error (including mine - I missed a station but let's not talk about that LOL).

Thanks, Debby!
Blitzen, yeah it is pretty fun! I think some parts of rally are a bit more challenging only because you have to have things that you wouldn't for obedience...like a finish both left AND right and the new pivots (*hides head*..not pretty when we go to the left..yikes)!! About the missed station...I am sure I will join in that missed station club very soon!! hehehe
I am just trying to think of the upcoming competitions as practice. No biggie. If we don't Q there is always next time.....At least that is what I keep telling myself!!!

Big congrats on your girl!

That is WONDERFUL!!! Pretty nice at just 10 months!! I have to admit I love agility but if you don't live close to clubs with all the equipment it is hard to practice. I think the UKC obedience is actually harder than AKC. I ENJOY doing it all!! CONGRATULATIONS!!! Cynthia
