I watched one of "our" police dogs get a bravery award at Crufts today and the handler, Steve, gave us a framed photo commemorating it and a copy of the Incident report that was read out at the presentation. There was also a Met dog there, the one that was hit by a brick during the Tottenham riots and was lucky to survive the subsequent brain bleed. The two dogs had a bark at each other, prompting a joke that the Met and Suffolk police didn't get on. I have to say the Met dog was a total gentleman while he received his award, while Aman was cuddling his handler at the ringside, leaving copious amounts of hair all over his dress uniform, before reacting to the noisy applause with hold and bark on the man presenting the award (very gingerly) and an obvious glare at a man who rose from his seat and thought better of it and sat down again. Seems Aman never considers himself off duty when it comes to protecting Steve.
