What a great story!
My girl, Shelby, is a rescue, picked up off the streets of Lexington, Kentucky by animal control. She's not a top K-9, but she served as therapy dog until recently, due to the DM. She has been such a gift to me and so many other people. Rescue dogs are not for everyone, for a variety of reasons, but I wish more people would consider adopting rather than running out and getting a puppy.
