I'm looking for a young, green showline (or possibly a puppy from a very well bred litter) for serious family protection and/or PSA.

What breeders would you recommend that still value hardness and solid temperments in their program?

I don't know her personally and i've never met her....but
Sinburg kennel might be good.

Karen is breeding with Universal Siegers very often, she has a litter now sired by Ballack.

Her female V-Ule von Temar, SchH3, FH, KKL1 was the 20008 USA universal siegerin too.

Hope this helps....

I know these people personally and though I am not in to show lines if I were to get one I would trust to get one from them.

http://www.sinburgkennels.com/ I

Karen is an excellent, experienced breeder. I would also recommend the litter out of Ballack and Wanda.  I have a female puppy from Wanda's first litter and she is beautiful with superb temperament.

I would also recommend Alta-Toohaus (www.24kgsd.com).  Julie breeds dogs with excellent working ability that are beautiful as well.

You might have better luck with a working line pup or young dog if your really want serious family protection and or PSA.  If you find a super strong show line dog that is a serious family protector or can excel at PSA, I'd also be interested.  Best of luck in your search.

Thanks for the help, guys.

And I hear you, Slamdunc. I'm on a witch hunt. But if there is such a thing, I'm going to find it.

I'm more of a malinois person, getting into GSDs now as I am looking for something more low key for the house. I'd be willing to go with a WL if I found the right one, but it's not my preference, and I am in no hurry to buy.

Currently I am just exploring, doing some research and getting some opinoins and recommendations of kennels who have the potential to produce hard dogs. Pedigree Database forums tend to get off topic easily, so I may make a topic later for recoomendations of WL kennels just to keep things more orgainized.

My friend had an 11 months old dynamite show line male. He was in Czech. She thought she finally bred "the dog" and then his elbows were bad. She cried for a long time!

They are out there and I am sure with clear hips and elbows, just keep looking! Good luck on your search.

Those showline breeders are very easy to distinguish. Simply go back to the thread where the showline dogs that consistently produced working ability were identified and see if the breeder you are considering has those dogs ancestors in their breeding program.
